Queenswood Country Park is a much-loved community asset for the people of Herefordshire with an estimated 20,000 visitors per year. The site is managed by Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, in partnership with New Leaf Sustainable Development Ltd, under a long-term lease from the Herefordshire Council.
Herefordshire Wildlife Trust (HWT) is a wildlife conservation charity for everyone who cares about nature in Herefordshire. Purpose of the job
The Queenswood Country Park Visitor Experience Assistant is one of the ‘faces’ of Queenswood, both in person at our Visitor Centre and digitally through our web and social media platforms. Working closely with our Visitor Experience Manager, they will aim to ensure all visitors have a wonderful experience and deliver exceptional customer service before, during and after visits, assisting with queries relating to car parking; accessibility; events and trails.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring excellent customer service and visitor experience in person at the Visitor Centre, across the site and digitally
Retail responsibilities including sales, re-stocking shop, ordering and cleanliness.
Collecting and creating content for our website and social media channels
Monitoring and responding to online enquiries to the Queenswood email and social media accounts, collecting and collating visitor feedback
Assist with the recruitment, training, supervision, motivation and support of volunteers.
Assist with the routine maintenance of visitor facilities, responsible for security and cleanliness, including ensuring the regular disposal of waste and the reporting of any building and equipment faults.
Coordinating and supervising the work of our ‘DIY team’ of facilities volunteers
Contributing to Visitor Engagement and Marketing content plans
9. Responsible for recording sales and other key performance information daily
Actively promote membership of HWT to visitors and meet membership recruitment targets agreed with the Visitor Experience Manager
Ensure sustainable and eco-friendly practices are followed wherever possible.
Other duties
Undertake Health and Safety duties commensurate with the post and as detailed in the Trust's Health and Safety policy; and ensure any volunteers, trainees or 3rd parties do like-wise;
Comply with all other organisational policies and relevant legislation e.g. Equal Opportunities – it being the responsibility of the post holder to make themselves aware of such items
Take advantage of formal and informal opportunities for personal and professional development, participate in appropriate training activities in consultation with your line manager.
Cascade relevant skills and knowledge to relevant staff and volunteers;
Encourage, develop and support Trust volunteer involvement in your work (Volunteers being recognised as a major resource that makes a vital contribution to the Trust)
Act as an ambassador for Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, constructing and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers, visitors and other organisations.
Promote HWT through participation in HWT events, provision of ‘good news’ briefings for internal and external communications and engagement with the media
Undertake any other work that might be deemed necessary by HWT commensurate with the level of responsibility of this post. Work with the broader HWT team on any other activities that match your skills and abilities as agreed with your line-manager.
