Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Quantum Safe is identifying the needs for a product that will support our clients in their journey to become Quantum Safe. This is a new product and it is very likely that this will be developed as re-usable assets, accelerators and tools in the context of early consultative engagements with our clients and then hardened and matured into a commercial grade software product. Some of the basic features are defined and other features will be discovered based on client needs from early engagements.

The role of the product architect will be to help shape and build this product dynamically from a technology standpoint based on defined software architecture principles, standards and best practices. Some of the responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Gain and maintain a very good understanding of what competitive capabilities exist within the market landscape in the Quantum Safe area
  • Work with the Product Manager to develop a Northstar architecture for the product
  • Develop detailed technical requirements covering both functional and non-functional aspects
  • Define the foundational architecture that will enable the development of technical capabilities that will deliver differentiated features
  • Express the architecture in terms of standard architecture artifacts
  • Ensure that the architecture is sound and based on leading industry practices and meets all functional and non-functional requirements
  • Guide and lead an engineering team in the execution of the design and development activities
  • Develop sound testing approaches to ensure quality of the developed software
  • Collaborate with Quantum Safe Offering Manager to ensure that product meets market needs and that the product features are appropriately leverage to drive value to clients
  • Evangelize technical product capabilities at industry events, conferences, etc.
  • Collaborate across IBM Business Units to drive synergies in product capabilities as well as in consumption of product across all Business Units



Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Technical expertise and experience in cybersecurity and cryptography
  • Technical expertise in programming language constructs, language grammar, language parsers, etc.
  • Experience in architecting, designing and developing complex software products
  • Expertise in architecture approaches, methods and application of necessary tools
  • Expertise in cloud native development, architecting solutions on cloud and application of AI in solutions

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Experience as a product architect or software solutions architect or in similar discipline
  • Technical team leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Quantum Computing fundamentals
