Job description

Scope

To drive and ensure compliance to the Quality Management system through effective management & communication.

Oversee the day-to-day management of the QA Department and all associated functions. Supporting the NPI & Project Engineer & Support Engineer to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the NPI process.

Key Responsibilities

· To liaise with and host all 3rd party audit activities, including external registration, and Group UKOM audits. Preparation of Audit reports in line with ISO IATF requirements

· Liaise with Plant Services Co-ordinator to ensure all Environmental Management system requirements are being achieved.

· Develop good relations with all customers to aid with communication / solutions in the event of complaints/concerns. ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented to prevent re-occurrences. Ensure 8D reports are completed in a timely manner

· Dealing with all supplier concerns, issuing Supplier corrective actions and where necessary arranging rejections in line with ISO IATF 16949 requirements.

· Controlling the CAR database ensuring all corrective and preventative actions are tracked and closed out in a timely manner.

· To Plan all Internal Quality & System audits, to ensure they are completed on time. Delegate audits to qualified internal auditors to ensure the schedule is up to date.

· To perform the Group UKOM audit twice yearly at Northampton in line with ISO IATF requirements. Raise audit reports and review corrective actions.

· Liaise with NPI & Projects Engineer to ensure a smooth transition for all new products being introduced from prototype stage right through to product launch.

· Planning and delivering Management reviews within the site.

· Delivering Month end Quality Manager’s reports and KPI graphs.

· Support the Quality techs in the busy day to day demands of the department (Capability studies, tool trials, dimensional reports, Wet /Dry weight analysis, Customer sample requirements)

· Organise your team and maximise efficiency, control your labour costs and make sure you brief your team of any changes or issues that they need to be aware of.

· Make sure all people are following all the Health & Safety rules including wearing PPE etc.

· Provide strong and clear leadership, always set the standards to which people working for you will follow as people will always look at you and your standards.

· Review customer score card and customer portals for quality performance

· Review customer quality requirements for special characteristics to align to the setting of quality objectives and related training.

· Perform reasonable additional or alternative duties as and when requested by your line manager, or other authorised person

· Full flexibility of working hours in line with business needs

Communication

· Act as communication medium between commercial, technical centre and manufacturing facility for all NPI & quality related matters

· Encourage improvements from your team.

· Complete a monthly report explaining all your activities and results.

· Make sure that all people are informed about their personnel performances.

· Record all personnel issues and record any training people receive.

· Carry out disciplinary action with the support of your manager & HR when issues arise.

· Hold regular meetings with your team to discuss all events

· Make sure your Team communicates issues and works together as effectively as possible, promoting a strong team ethic.

Training

· Carryout Employee appraisals at the relevant time.

· All new starters must complete training programs and be assessed on every job; you will need to carryout competence tests to prove that they understand what to do.

· Maintain skills matrixes, job descriptions, training packs and competency tests etc.

· Carryout assessments on how people are working by using the forms provided and give feedback.

· Carryout refresher training as needed.

Housekeeping

· All areas where your team are working are your responsibility to keep tidy and must always under control.

· You must inform all your team to control their working environment and carryout 5’s

inspections to keep the standards high.

· Maintain a good standard in all working areas.

Health & Safety

· Never take risk and keep safety as is the main priority and support push for zero LTA’

and accidents.

· Always enforce the safety rules and use the disciplinary process where relevant

· Record any near misses and carry out any risk assessment.

· Complete the weekly Health & Safety check sheet

· Make sure all personnel complete safety training, both general and specific.

· Ensure all your department’s equipment on site is safe and arrange all relevant repair work and checks have been completed.

· Attend health and safety meetings.

Financial Responsibilities

Responsible for the department’s financial performance and KPI results

People Management

Experience of hands-on direct line management

Key Holder. Responsible for security of site

Knowledge and Expertise

· Proven experience in a similar role (5/10 years)

· Strong hands-on leadership experience

· Ability to develop, lead and motivate others

· Highly computer literate e.g. Excel/Word and PowerPoint

· Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels

· Demonstrates experiences of making sound judgement under pressure.

· Team Player

· Systematic and with high attention to detail

· Already have developed a career and will probably have held practical roles within a manufacturing environment.

· Ability to make decisions that maximise efficiency whilst balancing those decisions with safety, quality, and cost.

· Ability to interpret, analyse and present data

Relevant qualification in Quality & Management Six Sigma

Working Hours

8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Must be flexible to support the business and will require travel. This may require contact out of working hours and will require you to be on call.

Salary: Up to £50,000.00 per year
