Marine Resources are working with a world leading maritime business seeking someone to champion all things quality within their business.
Initially overseeing all new build products which include vessels from 4m-25m before exploring further aspects of the business such as repair and refit.
You will be a sole advocate of quality as the conduit between the production leads and senior management team.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, quality and compliance of products and manufacturing procedures through rigorous inspections, implementation of quality control measures, and identification of areas for improvement.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to building high-quality products that exceed customer expectations.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in engineering or quality assurance, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage all quality-related issues within the manufacturing team (e.g., internal, supplier, customer, and customer warranty)
- Identify root cause and instigate permanent corrective actions for product quality issues
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues that arise as quickly and efficiently as possible to prevent compromising quality and safety standards
- Carry out product and process auditing
- Ensure control plans and associated documentation are implemented effectively and maintained
- Provide support to projects at an early stage to define appropriate quality requirements.
- Monitor and report on quality-related key performance indicators including scrap monitoring, rework levels
- Lead and motivate by example, instilling a culture of cleanliness, quality, and continuous improvement within all aspects of the Business.
- Write product & production test procedures
- Ensure compliance and assist with adherence to the Quality Management system ISO 9001-2015
- Undertake special projects as required
- Assist with training of quality awareness
- Quality control of work by appropriate reviews
- Support and lead process improvement activities
- Write reports and present progress at project meetings
- Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
- Undertake continuous training and development
- Lead quality audits
- Keep up with current and developing manufacturing and engineering trends that concern
product quality
- Lead and/or support groups of technicians and engineers
- Provide guidance / train both team and broader organisation members
Relationship Management:
- Support regular inspection meetings with representatives from appropriate departments to establish an action plan for improving build quality.
- Liaise and communicate with other departments, customers, suppliers, and other service
providers.
Skills & Attributes:
- Exercise substantial initiative/judgement in work methods and interpreting goals
- Work independently and with minimal supervision
- Self-supervising within the guidance and expectations of divisional management
- Knowledge of quality systems and measurement
- Knowledge and understanding of ISO9001, ISO14001 and Health and Safety practices
- In depth Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
- Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment

- Good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills

Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or relevant field
- Membership of an industry related Professional Body would be advantageous
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably marine, aerospace, or automotive
- Experience of working in Quality Assurance
- Experience of dealing with customers and supplier
Location Bromborough based with some UK & International Travel
Holidays 23 days plus bank holidays pro rata depending on start date
