Quality Engineer
Manufacturing and quality engineer position at Hydraulic System Products.
Hydraulic System Products Ltd celebrates our 50thyear in business. As a UK based hydraulic component designer and manufacturer, we take pride in excellent delivery lead times, product quality and customer satisfaction. Supplying the OEM construction industry, we are constantly looking at new opportunities to broaden our range of hydraulic valves to capture new opportunities with key OEM clients and continue to grow the company. A relatively small manufacturer we have a close-nit team with a can-do attitude and can respond quickly to customer requirements.
We have an opening for the right candidate to join our team at HSP. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have a need for a replacement quality engineer.
We are looking for an experienced quality engineer to drive our quality systems and processes to create an environment of continuous improvement. Individual must be hands on, confident, and good communicator. They must be able to put their ideas across constructively to guide the company departments in following key processes outlined by our standard operating procedures and ultimately our ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. Opportunities to improve can be identified and implemented ahead of issues arising so be to be proactive in our actions rather than reactive.
The position is full time, 38hrs a week standard, but there may be requirements for overtime and weekend work where necessary.
Standard hours are Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:30, Friday 08:00 – 14:30.
Place of work is 3 Monckton Road Industrial Estate, Monckton Road, Wakefield, WF2 7AL. Part of the job may require travelling to customer places of work for introductions with the sales or management team or working with customers on quality related projects. As a split it would be 80% head office 20% out in the field as a general guide.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits packages and are looking at a starting salary for this position of £25k -£30k depending on skills and experience. There is real scope for growth and development in this role and this would be reflected accordingly in future salary growth. We provide a company pension scheme and up to 25 days holiday plus all statutory holidays.
Reporting to the General Manager and Managing Director. Duties would include:
· Maintenance and development of the Quality Management Systems
· Analysis of arising production issues, modifying incoming and production systems as required.
· Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) – 5S, Internal NCR, External NCRs, Scrap Valve, Unmanned Machining, Customer Satisfaction
· Implement and support strategic initiatives to improve internal quality practices and performance.
· Internal Audits – 5S, QHSE, ISO, Machine Shop Planned Maintenance, Assembly Planned Maintenance.
· Provide technical support for the development phase of new programs and prototype projects.
· Work with all departments including design, production, assembly, supply chain to support continuous improvement initiatives.
· Managing Health & Safety Systems and Process
· Managing Internal NCRs
· Managing External NCRs
· Managing and Monitoring 5S Process
· New Employee Induction
· Supporting New Product Development internally and with customers (FMEA, PPAP / ISIR etc)
The Ideal Candidate
· Bachelor of Science (industrial engineering preferred)
· Minimum of two years’ experience in a hydraulics or similar manufacturing environment with an ISO quality program.
· Must be able to meet quality and productivity standards.
