Supplier Quality Engineer
- Participate in supplier selection and validation, per quality plan requirements.
- Own supplier results, drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecards.
- Own supplier audits, ensuring compliance, and driving improvement plans where needed.
- Has knowledge of best practices and how their scope of work integrates with others.
- Perform supplier performance management by analyzing performance data, and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Preventing/Minimizing business impact from supplied material defects; supplier quality risk mitigation
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of lean and analytical thinking to execute quality management system policy/strategy.
- Support process and product audits along with capacity assessments to ensure the supplier's processes are robust and capable.
- Provide material review dispositions for non-conformances.
- Develop supplier quality requirements per customer or product specifications
- Partner with Purchasing to provide supplier quality requirements during the Request for Quote process
- Review Purchase Requisition and Purchase Orders for quality notes as they should flow-down to supplier
- Collaborate with Purchasing representatives (buyer) on developing supplier relationships
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risk and resource requirements. Exercise influence, developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field.
- Jobs at this level function with some autonomy but are subject to functional practices and precedents or are covered by well-defined policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
- Uses sound judgment and has the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated, day-to-day problems. Has ability to prioritize information for data analysis. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related disciplines
- A minimum of 3 years in Automotive Quality, Manufacturing, Materials, or other Supply Chain Management role.
- Experience with international standards or other quality systems, required
- Experience with Product Launch, APQP Process, PPAP
- Reasonable level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and ability to manage vendor relationships
