Purpose of Position
The scope of the Quality Director is primarily to implement and sustain a Quality Management System registered to the AS9100/ISO9001 standard and align with the company’s strategic plan and quality initiatives. Continual improvement of company-wide processes through analysis, effective training programs, continual education and growth of personnel, and appropriate placement of personnel based on competencies are integral to the success of Modus Advanced, Inc. and ensure an excellent customer experience.
Principal Accountabilities
AS9100/ISO9001:
- Manage all quality control processes at the Livermore and Carlsbad locations
- Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of all elements of the AS9100/ISO9001 Quality Management System (QMS)
- Serve as Management Representative and host for Registrar audits
- Manage investigation and communication of quality issues
- Promote the Modus Quality Policy and Culture throughout the organization
- Collect, analyze and present data to upper management in accordance with the Management Review process
- Conduct bi-annual Vendor Performance review in collaboration with Procurement and Compliance departments
Learning Organization:
- Collaborate with department managers to continually review and improve departmental processes Ensure customer satisfaction and efficiency of operations
- Author procedures and develop training materials, including externally sourced materials
- Administrator for online training software: PowerPoint, iSpring
Production Related – Direct or delegation:
- Manage daily inspection tasks
- Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish quality expectancy of finished product
- Manage the calibration of company tools to ensure compliance
- Manage and lead investigation and communication of post-delivery quality issues
- Continual improvement and update of product work instructions
Other responsibilities assigned, as required.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
It is expected that the Quality Director possess these critical skills through prior education, knowledge, and Modus training:
- Minimum BS/BA degree from accredited college or university, or combination of appropriate experience and education
- 10 years' experience in a Quality function
- Quality Management Systems: AS9100 or equivalent experience
- Relevant exposure to a manufacturing environment: Aerospace, Medical, Automotive, Electronics experience preferred
- Knowledge of Lean, TQM, Six Sigma and/or total quality systems
- Analytical ability to synthesize complex or diverse information; Collect and research data; Use intuition and experience to complement data
- Problem Solving skills– Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; analyze information; Develop alternative solutions
- Technical Skills – Assess own strengths and weaknesses; Pursue training and development opportunities; Strive to continuously build knowledge and skills
- High attention to detail
- Expert computer skills are necessary.
- Modus operates in the following software environments; Microsoft Business Central (BC) ERP, Microsoft Office Suite, iSpring LMS, High QA Inspection Manager.
- Certificates or documented usage of an ERP system, accounting software, database software, internet software, quality inspection software, inventory software, manufacturing software, order processing systems, spreadsheet software and word processing software would be considered as equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English

Job Environment
This position is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work remotely from home 1-2 days and be onsite in Livermore in an office and warehouse environment. The warehouse area may be dusty, odorous, noisy, and subject to changing temperatures with outdoor weather.
The employee will adhere to all Quality Management System policies, procedures as well as 5S processes, and plant safety.

Pay: $105,000.00 - $163,000.00 per year
