Job specification- Quality Controller

Main Purpose:

The Quality Controller is a key position within the business. Quality controllers check the quality of incoming and outgoing materials or products. This job involves tasks such as running tests, keeping records, analysing products, and overseeing procedures. Quality controller may work from a variety of locations, from production area to laboratories, warehouse. This job is well suited to people with an eye for detail, who have an aptitude for math, and who have a good organisation skill. The quality controller shall ensure the product safety and quality on finished products.

Due to the nature of the fast paced manufacturing environment, candidates must have experince working in manufacturing environment, not only in quality laboratory.

The right candidate has excellent organisational skills with a can do attitude.

Responsibilities:

1. Monitor the quality aspect of the incoming raw materials and components until finished product. Carry out raw material testing when required including water samples.

2. Perform routine testing of manufactured blends in compliance with Standard Operation Procedure and Blend Specification.

3. The Quality Controller always must comply with the Laboratory Procedures and Test Methods

4. Request certificates of analysis from suppliers where necessary. Maintain the traceability of the deliveries.

5. Maintain and calibrating of equipment, in the laboratory and the manufacturing areas. Report any anomalies.

6. Complete internal auditing and assist in preparation of external audits and customer visits, as necessary.

7. Ensure that the company maintains BRCGS accreditation and to continually work within relevant guidelines.

8. Maintain laboratory reagents and consumables, placing orders with suppliers.

9. To record and monitor all bulk tank, DI plant outputs and communicate any discrepancies to the relevant department.

10. To make up and gather samples as required for despatch to customers.

11. Booking in blends, amend expiry date in SAGE system, monitor raw material batches. Monitor raw material close to shelf-life end, request shelf life extension from supplier.

12. To assist with investigating non-conformances and providing information so that these can be closed off in a timely manner, complete Rapid Problem Solving.

13. Print Blend Sheet or Works Orders on request for Blending Department or Production

14. Understanding of the Quarantine Procedure, to be able to react and assist with failures in the manufacturing area.

15. Understanding of the Sharp Control Procedure, issue knives, change blades, control of sharps. Understanding Glass Breakage Procedure.

16. Assist in waste control, adjust the pH on waste. Record keeping.

17. Keeping the laboratory up to date in email communication with other departments

18. Set up Weights and measures, be able to amend the weights on production request.

19. Daily date code confirmation, ensuring traceability.

20. Management of blend sheet and raw materials, scan documents.

21. 5S Management in the laboratory, understanding of the Tier Board system.

22. Keeping accurate Batch Production Records

Working hours - 36.75 per week

Shift Pattern:

Sunday to Tuesday 17:45 pm - 6:00 am

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent- Immediate start

Pay: £12.64 - £14.06
