What we’re looking for
We’re looking for our first full-time quality assurance tester to join our Rust team to aid and work directly with our development and support teams. The ideal candidate we’re looking for should have experience in the video games QA industry, strong self-motivation, and familiarity with Rust. You will be the safeguard of the end product against anything that could negatively affect the player’s experience of the game.
The primary objective of a QA tester is to catch bugs and identify balance-related issues before the patch is released. Documenting and tracking issues is critical. Clear and precise bug reports are necessary to aid the development team.
The successful applicant will be working directly with our development team, daily play testing of recently implemented changes within the Rust client or the Unity Editor, checking for bugs, balance and performance-related problems. Issues will be written up on Asana and flagged to the development team. Rust runs on a rapid monthly development cycle, so a keen eye for detail and a good level of knowledge of Rust are required.
This is a full-time remote position, but we’re keen to have the applicant working hybrid or full-time from our Birmingham (UK) office.
Responsibilities
Finding and reproducing errors or problems in-game.
Daily playtesting of recent changes.
Writing up detailed bug reports on Asana.
Keeping Asana up-to-date and organised.
Reading and following up on player-submitted bug reports.
Create and maintain QA wiki documentation to aid with development and QA practices.
Working closely with support staff to identify and troubleshoot user-reported issues.
Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the quality and game experience.
Providing clear and concise critical analysis and feedback when requested.
Learning our internal systems, software, and processes.
Keeping our development environments updated.
Requirements
Good standard of written and spoken English skills.
Eligible to work and located within the UK
Knowledgeable in video game QA practices.
Self-motivated.
Experience with multiplayer, open-world, survival games.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work under rapid development cycles.
Experience with bug tracking systems such as Asana, JIRA, Hansoft etc.
Desirables
Local to UK Birmingham or the surrounding area or have strong transport links to Birmingham to work hybrid at our HQ.
Prior experience in a QA role within the games industry.
In-depth knowledge of Rust.
Experience with the Unity game engine.
Experience with running Rust servers.
Basic video editing skills
