QA TECHNICIAN

As a Quality Technician you will inspect work in progress and finished products. You will be responsible for recording and analyzing the results of these inspections. You will be responsible for escalating any incidents of non-conformance to the QA Shift Manager/ Assistant QA Shift Manager or Quality Assurance Manager.

You will be responsible for conducting daily, weekly and monthly audits against schedule and work effectively with the team and other departments to ensure that tasks are completed, and a proactive approach is instilled to provide support for the business to achieve a food safety and quality ethos.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the food safety culture throughout the team and business
  • Engage with all relevant departments within your area to build working relationships and support the manufacturing site to achieve best practices, safe high-quality products to customer requirements in line with their standards and our BRCGS certification.
  • To ensure all Business Quality System documentation and process checks are compliant and within specification against legality, customer and BRCGS standards.
  • Control process documentation, issue, collation, auditing for compliance and storage.
  • Conduct internal quality system audits to ensure compliance and continual improvement against industry best practice using paperwork, handheld devices and PC systems. GMP, Glass and Plastics, Foreign body, CAYG etc.
  • Monitoring product quality and reporting non-conformances to relevant departments in order to protect the product, customer and business.
  • Auditing and taking a proactive view for continuous improvement to build our quality control procedures from raw materials through to the finished product.
  • Action quality or foreign body incidents through investigations providing factual data, corrective and preventative action based on risk working with your team and other departments.
  • Complete objectives provided by the Shift Quality Assurance Manager, Assistant Quality Assurance Manager and the Site Technical Manager to meet business requirements.
  • Detailed investigations of customer complaints, both quality and foreign body and internal incidents.
  • Conduct scheduled documented calibration checks on equipment critical to food safety and quality.
  • Ensure hygiene standards are maintained prior to and during production and escalate any non-conformances that pose a risk to safety.
  • Conduct scheduled environmental and finished product sampling to monitor hygiene, microbiological standards and legal declarations such as meat content.
  • Ensure daily GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards are maintained within all areas of the manufacturing process and environment escalating any non-conformances.
  • Complete CCP metal detector failsafe checks on packing line equipment as per procedure.
  • Complete scheduled and day-to-day inspections of equipment and environment hygiene and fabrication and escalate any non-conformances.
  • Complete product datalogging as required for trials, after equipment failures, or as requested by the manager.
  • Prepare daily product assessment panels (Taste Panel) by collating all relevant samples as scheduled.

Essential skills and Experience:

  • Experience working within a quality-focused food business / department
  • Awareness of Food safety culture
  • Awareness of BRCGS, EHO and TSO 3rd party auditing groups
  • HACCP Level 2
  • Food Safety Level 2
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Computer literate
  • Good numerical and literacy skills, and Computer literacy.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work unsupervised and to prioritise workload.
  • Organised and flexible with ability to multi-task whilst maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate data leading to decision making.
  • Basic knowledge of working in a food manufacturing process is advantageous.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Up to £22,039.69 per year
