Job description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated QA Engineer to join our dynamic MarTech Startup.
As Duel’s first dedicated QA Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining quality assurance processes and methodologies for an industry-defining product. Throughout the software development life cycle, your primary objective and focus will be to identify software defects, ensure the functionality meets specifications, and guarantee an exceptional user experience.
THE ROLE
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and business analysts, to understand project requirements and translate them into comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
Execute functional, regression, integration, and performance tests to identify defects and ensure the software meets quality standards.
Collaborate with our developers to develop and maintain automated test scripts, alongside our developers, using industry-standard tools and frameworks, improving efficiency and test coverage.
Conduct thorough manual testing to validate the functionality, usability, and overall quality of software applications.
Perform root cause analysis on identified issues and work closely with the development team to resolve them.
Document and communicate test results, defects, and overall test status to the relevant stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise reporting.
Continuously monitor, evaluate, and improve the quality assurance processes, methodologies, and tools used by the team.
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, providing valuable input and advocating for quality throughout the development cycle.
Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, emerging trends, and new technologies related to quality assurance and testing.

THE PERSON
Solid knowledge of software testing principles, techniques, and tools.
Experience with both manual and automated testing, including test planning, test case design, and test execution.
Experience with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, JUnit, TestNG).
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and the ability to work effectively in an Agile development environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
Quality-focused mindset, with a passion for delivering high-quality software products.
Extra points if you are proficient in one or more programming or scripting languages.
Must be based and have the right to work in the UK, ideally close to Bristol or London
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Proven work experience as a QA Engineer or similar role, with a strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies and practices.
ISTQB or similar software testing certifications.
Experience within a continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) environment.
Knowledge of API testing and related tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI).
Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
