Job description
Primary Roles:
Utilizes hand tools and die grinder to smooth, grind, and polish metal surfaces of forged components to achieve blue print specifications.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
Accesses blueprints and manufacturing plans for each part.
Chooses necessary tools, including micrometers, gages, abrasive tools, and calipers to achieve specified dimensions.
Prepares the machine according to blueprint dimensions.
Eliminates burrs and sharp edges and smooths surfaces to meet specifications.
Polishes cavity and gutter surfaces.
Uses hand tools, including stones and files, to scrape, sand, and brush surfaces as required.
Inspects work pieces for quality assurance.
Follows safety guidelines and wears personal protective equipment as required.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
Reports production time for each job.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent with industrial arts or machine trades training.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in deburring operations.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read blueprints and manufacturing plans.
Familiarity with arithmetic involving decimals, fractions, and their application in reading drawings and measuring instruments, calculations, and recording dimensions.
Ability to read inspection tools and knowledge of quality control, gages, and micrometers.
Fluency in spoken and written English.
Understanding of procedures and production schedules.
Good physical health, with the ability to lift heavy loads.
Detail oriented.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
