Job description

About the CDS Technology team

We create and develop software that makes a difference to people’s lives. We work on projects that fit with the CDS core values of making a positive difference, and we feel good about our work.

Our hybrid working model is centred around a team delivery approach; meaning our people come first. Supporting each other to balance work and life is core to our success, so if it works for you and for the team we have a winning formula. We measure our successes by what we achieve in our working week, over when the work is done. Plus, with limited client site visits we really have adopted a flexible approach to project delivery which works for everyone.

About the role

We're looking for a QA Analyst to join the functional test team at CDS. This role will contribute to maintaining a high standard of quality on UK-wide projects that range from a variety of different industries. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day testing within the software development lifecycle, and for promoting best practices within the team.

Your day-to-day...

  • Working within an agile team and contributing to sprint ceremonies.
  • Carrying out hands-on test activities:
    • Creation and management of test cases and scripts.
    • Defect management.
    • Working closely with other team members to gain an in-depth understanding of requirements.
  • Contribute to process improvements within the team.

Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who can…

  • Liaise with product owners and team members to review acceptance criteria and functional specifications.
  • Be confident in presenting regular demos with clients.
  • Have knowledge of testing in an agile environment and able to demonstrate previous successes.
  • Be confident when dealing with developers.
  • Attend and contribute to agile ceremonies.
  • Contribute to the creation of test cases and scripts.
  • Take ownership of the defect management process.
  • Be the gatekeeper for the quality of software in production.
  • Provide input to test documentation (test plans and reports).
  • Contribute to existing regression packs.
  • Carry out cross-browser/device testing.

Requirements

  • Substantial industry experience working in a Tester role across a variety of projects.
  • Be efficient in test management tools (Azure DevOps, JIRA or similar).
  • Understanding of SDLC and STLC and how they fit into CI/CD pipeline.
  • Holds the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certification.
  • An understanding of accessibility standards and testing guidelines.
  • Able to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
  • A great proactive team player that has gained the respect of others.
  • A clear, confident and effective communicator who is comfortable speaking with customers.
  • Possess a keen eye for detail and encourage others to do the same.
  • Be passionate about the Test function and always look for improvements in this area.
  • Possess the ability to work well with others in the technical team and be able to maintain good working relationships with others outside of that team.

It would also be beneficial, but not essential to have…

  • Working knowledge of BrowserStack.
  • Experience working with Content Management Systems (EPiServer).

Vetting

Due to the nature of this role and the business, you will need to either currently hold UK Government clearance to a minimum of SC level or be able to undergo and maintain this level of clearance.

In return we offer

  • Attractive base salary
  • 25 days holiday + public holidays
  • Company pension and life assurance scheme
  • Medicash health plan – online GP access, support services & discounted gym membership
  • Complimentary fruit, coffee, tea, and Friday drinks at the office
  • Wellbeing events/services in Leeds office
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Season pass loan for rail & bus travel
  • A business focused on professional development and personal growth opportunities
  • Smart, engaged co-workers and a culture of inclusion, innovation, and opportunity
