We are seeking a multi-talented developer that will focus on designing and developing highly available and scalable solutions to manage the firm wide storage repository including storage provisioning, monitoring, alerting, auditing, and inventorying. In addition to architecting and integrating a storage solution working with 3rd party vendors, the candidate will develop in-house applications that will become part of the technology platform for the business.

The ideal candidate will also design storage tools on problem management and preventive maintenance (alert and capacity management). Additionally, the candidate needs to understand storage virtualization, automation, storage provisioning, distributed and scale-out file systems, software defined storage solutions, emerging technologies in infrastructure automation and observability. Ability to work as part of a global team is a requirement. In addition, the candidate must be able to listen to customer requirements and be able to advise, discuss and articulate technical solutions effectively. It would also be desirable that the candidate has relevant experience (intermediate to advanced preferred) in deploying, operating, and administering a Linux operating system in an enterprise level ecosystem.

What will you be doing?
Specifically, the person will be responsible for the following:

    Work with the Product owner/stakeholders to understand the requirements, doing the analysis and coming up with Appropriate Architecture and Design
    Drive new product selection to be deployed into production which includes the following:
    Conduct vendor RFIs
    Evaluation and Testing
    Security Analysis
    High Availability and Performance analysis
    Manageability and Scalability analysis
    Affordability and TCO analysis
    Drive new product integration into production environment which includes the following:
    Developing a management framework or integrate into an existing one
    Creating a global deployment plan by working closely with other infrastructure stakeholders
    Conducting operational acceptance testing with Storage Administrators for both platform and management framework
    Work with Security Architecture Team to review and certify product security to ensure compliance with firm security standards
    Partner with product vendors to drive RFEs and commercial roadmaps
    Maintain and modernize software development environment and software delivery pipelines to ensure compliance with firm strategic standards and industry trends

    Create deployment strategies and plans to maintain and modernize production platforms to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security

    Work closely with Storage Administrators and Product vendors to ensure the stability and optimal performance of the production environment

QUALIFICATIONS

What we’re looking for:
    Experienced in software development and proficient in one or more of the following programming languages - Python, Perl and/or JAVA.
    Experience with SDLC (software development lifecycle) best practices with large software development projects is a must.
    Good knowledge in Computer Science fundamental

    Good organizational and English communication skills, prioritization of multiple projects and objective.


Skills that will help you in the role:
    Familiarity with Object Oriented concepts and SQL programming
    Knowledge of storage technologies and disciplines namely, Fibre Channel, ISCSI, SCSI, NFS, CIFS, POSIX, Object Storage, SAS, SATA, FLASH (NVME, SSD, etc.), RAID, Erasure Coding, Distributed/Scale-out Storage, File systems, High-availability methods, working knowledge of databases etc. are strongly preferred. Understanding networking protocols and connectivity preferred.
    System Architecture experience within enterprise UNIX (RHEL)/Windows Server environments, Container environments (RH Open Shift/Kubernetes/Docker, etc.) and Cloud environments (Azure/AWS/Google) is highly desirable but not required.
    Understanding of Client/Server, Scale-out architectures, virtualization, performance and capacity management strongly preferred.
    Effective troubleshooting skills across O/S, network and storage.

    Knowledge in the following vendor products is preferred but not required: NetApp 7mode/cDOT/Engenio, IBM Spectrum Scale (aka GPFS), HDS Storage Arrays/HCP, EMC Atmos, Brocade SAN/FOS, Veritas Storage Foundation Suite, Sybase, DB2.


Skills Proficiency: Advanced (in Programming)/Intermediate + (in Storage and/or Linux)

Where will you be working?

    This role is located at our Glasgow office based on Waterloo Street in the city center. This location has a wellness center, including gym and shower/changing facilities, GP, Prayer room, Canteen and onsite Starbucks.
