The storage engineering team is responsible for storing and protecting business data using a combination of the latest innovative technologies; to design, engineer and implement robust scalable data storage solutions is the team’s primary responsibility.

What will you be doing?
Specifically, the person will be responsible for the following:
Extending and maintaining the python code base of a comprehensive internally developed tool set used for orchestration, capacity management and health monitoring of storage platforms.
Engage in code review, and discussion to foster a culture of quality within a small development team.
Proactively engage in developing their knowledge of our internal S3 cloud storage platform (Dell ECS), in order to contribute as a subject matter expert and handle technical support escalations from operations in a timely and professional manner.
Contribute to technical designs, influencing architecture and deployment choices for new features and storage products, (principally distributed object storage platforms) giving due consideration to security, resiliency, performance and cost.
Contribute to documentation and delivery of ongoing training to operations, application developers and business units on the features, benefits, limitations and appropriate use cases for each platform, and assisting consumers with application integration.
What we’re looking for:
Proficient coding skills, ideally with good python experience. Awareness of modern coding practices; continuous integration, unit testing and agile development.
Any experience with API design and implementation of REST based interfaces, Flask-RESTPlus or Flask-RESTX
A working knowledge of S3 features, authentication and characteristics
Any experience of large-scale production distributed infrastructure environments, Unix/Linux, TCP/IP networking, and IP based storage protocols.
The ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems, with a persistent attitude to follow through and fix the general case so that repetition of failure is avoided, and resiliency improved.
Strong communication skills and ownership of tasks, to be able to provide a proactive contribution within a global team is a must. High levels of motivation, initiative and a self-directed approach to work is essential.
Skills that will help you in the role:
Kubernetes Storage, any CSI provider as the same team is responsible for container storage
Security concepts, authentication and encryption services (Kerberos, AD, SSL, PKI etc.)
Where will you be working?
This role is located at our Glasgow office based on Waterloo Street in the city center. This location has a wellness center, including gym and shower/changing facilities, GP, Prayer room, Canteen and onsite Starbucks.
