Purchasing Assistant
An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and organised individual with the proven ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team to join our busy purchasing department. Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will help ensure products are ordered within lead times to meet customer demands along with developing and maintaining effective relationships with suppliers.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Monitoring and updating the order book on a daily basis to understand what is outstanding and taking appropriate actions including reviewing stock levels and forecasting.
- Control stock ordering, taking into account lead times and volumes needed.
- Identifying and informing your manager of any slow/fast moving lines.
- Chasing orders/enquiries on a daily basis to make sure they arrive on time as this can affect our ability to fulfil orders and ensures no out of stock periods.
- Ensuring delivery notes are consistent with purchase orders by liaising with warehouse goods in management.
- Working within budgets set by management.
- Working collaboratively with internal departments such as customer service, providing them with any necessary information such as accurate ETA dates.
- Building strong, effective working relationships with current and potential suppliers.
- Preparing and producing reports by analysing data and making any suggestions/recommendations.
- Helping resolve any internal and external purchasing issues quickly and efficiently.
- Any other ad hoc duties that support the purchasing department in delivering key business objectives and maintain the efficiency of the purchasing function.
Experience & Skills
- Experience of purchasing processes and stock management, preferably within ecommerce/B2C.
- Strong Excel skills are essential.
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and organisational skills.
- High level of accuracy with keen eye for detail.
- Pro-active with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs.
- Confident in dealing with deadlines and working under pressure.
- Proven ability to establish and develop relationships with internal and external sources.
Salary/Working Hours
- This is a full-time, permanent, office based position.
- Working hours are 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am – 4:30pm Friday.
- Salary is £25 – 27k DOE (this will reflect experience and will be discussed during interview).
