Job description
You will be Responsible for Service Reliability, Punctuality and Partnership working along with leading a team of Performance supervisors, including Inspectors to provide support to the Operations Director in delivering an operation focussed on the customer whilst ensuring statutory, legal, and regulatory compliance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support cost efficient delivery of a safe, punctual, and reliable service across all operating depots
- Establish and develop an engaged and talented team of Performance Supervisors, on street Inspectors and pro-actively managing performance and taking action to engage the team.
- Explore all means of leveraging technology to effectively manage service performance
- Maintain a collaborative working relationship with third party suppliers and external stakeholders – in particular focusing on partnering effectively with local authorities in delivering infrastructure improvements
- Maximising the effectiveness of colleague and customer engagement using all available channels, teams, marketing, and technology
- Ensuring that controls are in place to manage and mitigate risk, providing assurance of compliance to the Operational Director
- Maintain and prepare accurate records for all aspects affecting punctuality performance (vandalism, traffic, roadworks)
- Improve operational performance in a sustainable manner, with a key focus on managing reliability and on time performance, resulting in delivery of agreed key performance indicators.
- Ensue timely delivery of alternative disruption plans; liaising with and providing information to all relevant colleagues, ensuring the business is informed of planned and non-planned major events effecting operations.
- Provision of timely advice and assistance to drivers, ensuring excellent working relationships between drivers, supervisors, and inspectors to ensure a consistent customer experience.
- Supporting the Operations Director with the delivery of operational excellence strategy through complete adherence and alignment of our standard operating procedures, whilst effectively contributing to future operational improvements.
- Support all aspects of business continuity planning activity to support a robust response and recovery plan following any disruptive incident.
What are we looking for?
- An established planner/organiser with experience of managing and leading teams in a fast pace complex operational environment (including virtual)
- Experience of driving high performance and engagement with a track record of delivery through a team.
- Strong influencing skills and a track record of dealing with multiple stakeholders
- A team player, wholly committed to working with and supporting the wider business and divisional teams to achieve the First Bus Business Strategy
- Results-driven and with a consistent ability to get into the detail when necessary
- An ability/willingness to consider alternative solutions to long standing issues
- Good intellect with an analytical insight to quickly assess both day to day and future service disruptions with a can-do attitude to solving and preventing issues.
