Job description

A three month internship with an educational/children's book publishing house. Working in a variety of different roles within publishing, but with the primary focus on sales and marketing.

The Intern will be responsible for :

Assisting in sales and marketing activities for Ransom's phonics and reluctant reader book range. This includes the following areas:

  • Direct marketing and customer service to UK schools
  • Marketing to international schools
  • Rights and export to overseas markets
  • Market research
  • Development of the website and Ransom's new digital platform
  • Editorial assistance

Key tasks in this role will be:

  • Customer and sales support to schools
  • Assisting in the maintenance of publishing systems including databases and bibliographic data for Ransom’s titles
  • Keeping online sales sites (ie Amazon) up to date with product information
  • Sending out AIs, price lists, samples, screen shots and other marketing items to distributors and customers
  • Management of the customer database
  • Assisting with the implementation of the marketing plan
  • Assisting in the smooth running of the office including telephones and post and order processing at busy times
  • Editorial tasks including copy editing and proof reading.

Experience

No experience is required. This is a starting position in publishing working in all areas of the business but with a primary focus on sales and marketing to UK schools. There are considerable prospects for a full time position for the right candidate.
