We are looking for someone to join the Public Health team as a commissioning officer. The role is a new one with the opportunity to develop. This officer will manage complex programmes of work that generate insight and knowledge, through the analysis and interpretation of data and intelligence, to inform decision making across Public Health

As part of the role, you will provide support to senior programme leadership across the Public Health portfolio to ensure the delivery of improved service outcomes, and reduced inequalities in population health

The commissioning officer will also support and increase Hammersmith and Fulham Public Health Team’s capacity and expertise to support evidence based decisions, and improve the collection of data to measure public health outcome across the Local Authority

Role Responsibilities:
You will lead on a broad programme of topic areas with the overall ambition of improving the health and well being of children, families and adults who reside in the borough.

The role will involve

  • Leading on needs assessments, programme evaluation, pharmaceutical needs assessment and support the Director of Public Health in writing the Annual Public Health Reports.
  • Assure the quality and accuracy of reporting across their programmes of work, using relevant reporting frameworks as well as ensuring good governance and risk management.
  • Preparing and presenting high quality reports and contributing to programme plans, options appraisals, business cases and briefings for Cabinet Members, and other committees and groups as necessary.
  • Updating, learning and keeping abreast of developments, including legislation, guidance, new policies and best practice.
  • Contributing to wider Public Health and partner department/ organisations’ strategic planning, providing input and support in agreement with DPH.
