Public Health Intelligence Analyst
Band 6 £35,522 - £43,286 per annum
Plus, £1,201 Distant Islands Allowance
37.5 Hours per week

An opportunity has arisen for a Public Health Intelligence Analyst (PHIA) in Public Health Intelligence & Information Services team at NHS Western Isles. The PHIA role is to provide specialist data analysis support and advice to the Public Health Department. This will primarily be through developing, maintaining and analysing the main clinical and public health datasets to provide public health intelligence advice for the Board.
A key role of the postholder will be to provide as part of the Public Health Intelligence & Information Services team an analytical and knowledge support for the areas of public health intelligence particularly in relation to substance misuse for the local Alcohol and Drugs Partnership. Supporting service improvement and performance measurement of managed clinical networks across the organisation will be another key aspect of this role.
Managed within the Public Health Intelligence & Information Services Department the postholder will join an established small team of information specialists with a track record in data development and analysis within the health field.
The post offers an ideal opportunity for those with sound previous experience in a systems reporting and analytical environment preferably within health or related field, to further develop reporting and analytical skills in NHS Western Isles.
Candidates should be educated to postgraduate level in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science or Informatics or demonstrate equivalent level analytical/business intelligence experience. You will require good skills in range of analytical methods (eg. standardisation methods), use of BI tools (e.g. Qlikview, SSRS) and data discovery and transformation skills particularly in SQL- server technologies for interrogating the various patient information systems and developing systems reporting.
Additionally, experience in use of evaluation approaches will be advantageous.
