Castel Froma Neuro Care is a registered charity that cares for those with complex neurological conditions such as brain injury, MS, MND, Parkinson's and Huntington's disease. We have about 85 permanent residents living with us across 2 sites (Lillington House and Helen Ley House), plus a number of respite guests who stay with us on a temporary basis.
Job Summary
To support and enhance the professional Neuro-psychological care of residents at CFNC. Working across all sectors of care; providing psychological assessment, formulation and interventions under the supervision of a qualified HCPC registered Psychologist. Working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified Psychologist and within the overall framework of CFNC policies and procedures. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a good Honours Degree in Psychology that is Eligible for Graduate Membership of the BPS
- Be able to demonstrate good communication skills; with the ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, carers and other professionals
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of working with behaviour that challenges, support psychological and emotional issues and knowledge of neurological conditions.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Engaging with residents and their relatives at a therapeutic level to help optimise their health and welfare
- Undertaking a range of psychological assessments including assessments of behaviour, cognition and mood, including neuropsychological tests (under supervision). Applying psychological self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with residents, family members and others involved in the resident’s care
- Assisting in the formulation and delivery of care plans and goal-planning involving the psychological treatment and/or management of residents’ needs, under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist
- Implementing behavioural support programmes
- Helping to develop therapeutic group work materials, lead sessions and evaluate effectiveness
- Formulating and setting appropriate wellbeing/ maintenance/ rehabilitation goals, reviewing and resetting as appropriate.
You will be familiar with working within a multi-disciplinary team to help promote psychological thinking and interventions within the Care Homes. The successful candidate will be supported by the Therapy Manager and will receive formal Clinical Supervision from the Health Psychologist and Consultant Neuropsychologist. There will be the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in this exciting role.
Occasional travel to our other services may be required so a car driver/owner would be desirable. Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
