Job description

This adult acute inpatient job offers an exciting opportunity to join Shoredrift ward with well-established ward MDT. This is a replacement post due to retirement of current post holder.

This is a chance to work with a well-established consultant colleague group and MDT on Hopewood Park site, providing leadership within Shoredrift, which is an 18 bed acute inpatient male ward providing services to patients primarily from the Sunderland and South Tyneside area. The ward has AIMS accreditation. The workload will be shared with another consultant colleague.

Hopewood Park has a GP who provides input into the wards alongside a physical health team. The ward has a full time specialty doctor. There is a core trainee as well as foundation trainee (FY2). The post is supported by a medical assistant providing enhanced admin support including live documentation of reviews and support with report preparation.

You will be the clinical expert from a medical perspective to ensure best practice care is delivered and support the team.

Your role will be to hold RC responsibility for patients admitted to the unit. You will provide medical leadership to the MDT. The role provides excellent opportunity in being a leader and work on improving pathways for patients within the service.

There will be ample opportunities to be involved with Medical Education and Research within the Trust if interested.

You will have your own office space and will be supported by a medical assistant and/or medical secretary. We are looking for applicants based anywhere in the UK to explore exciting new opportunities in remote and digital working.

This is a substantive and full-time post however we would be happy to consider applicants available on a part time or fixed term basis.

As an added bonus, the Trust is located in the Northeast of England and Cumbria which is an area of outstanding natural beauty, containing national parks, ancient heritage sites and major cities supported by excellent national and international transport links. The area is predominantly rural and contains the Lake District National Park which is considered one of England’s finest areas of natural beauty.

Working 10PAs a week over 4 or 5 days alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will be the clinical expert from a medical perspective to ensure that best practice care is delivered and support the team in delivering this.

Applicants should be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the point of interview. Candidates must be suitably qualified, including eligibility for Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.
