Job description

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.

Please note that we have roles available at Highbury Hospital, Nottingham and Millbrook Mental Health Unit, Mansfield. Please confirm on your application which location you would prefer.

We are searching for enthusiastic and motivated staff nurses to join our Inpatient Services. We have individual specialised wards which provide care for patients over 65 years. Our Mental Health Wards offers an acute assessment and treatment environment for older people suffering from a diverse range of mental illnesses namely, depression, psychosis bipolar and personality disorders. Our dementia wards provide assessment and treatment for people of any age who have a Dementia diagnosis to enable a successful recovery back to the community or supported living environment. At present we have opportunities to work in either of these specialised areas.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team within the acute care pathway. This role would be of significant interest to registered mental health nurses with a specific interest in physical and mental healthcare of older adults.

We are looking for registered Mental Health Nurses who are driven to provide high quality care to patients and their families with either a dementia diagnosis or individuals over 65 years suffering from complex mental health needs. You will assume the role of named nurse to allocated patients and be a central point in advocating for the best interests and care needs of your patient.

We are looking for nurses who are approachable, compassionate and motivated with good communication skills and who excel at being part of a team.

The role will include working alongside an experienced nursing, medical, psychology and allied health professional team to provide enhanced level of patient centred care aimed to support our patients in meeting their needs.

You will become part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team with focus on assessment of need, treatment and recovery, while placing the service user and their families at the centre of care planning.

You will have the opportunity to gain further training and experience working as a link nurse specialising in areas such as the Mental Health Act, physical health, and addiction.

There is lots of planned transformation in our Inpatient Services within the Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP). This is a very exciting time to join our team and be a part of our service development within a ward management team role.

The role is incredibly rewarding, supporting many of our patients in returning home to their lives in the community or into a Care Home environment. A great ending to the therapeutic relationship which we have built with them and pride ourselves on.

  • be able to work on a 24-hr rota basis, including nights, weekends and Bank Holidays
