Protein Scientist
AxBio Inc. is a Silicon Valley startup company developing semiconductor nanotechnology biochips for fast Molecular In-Vitro Diagnostics. Company is well funded and founded by seasoned business and technology experts with broad experience in biotechnology, bioinformatics, IC device development and high volume semiconductor manufacturing.
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD level protein scientist to work in protein development (with focus on polymerases) for our sequencing technology. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced and a results-focused group, will be provided with learning opportunity in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Responsibilities:
· Participate in protein development projects such as protein engineering, enzymatic assays, protein purification.
· Research and identify opportunities for improvement in protein function.
· Protein production for internal use
· Initiate and execute protocols.
· Report results in cross-functional teams.
· Manage and execute development of protocols, reports and SOPs.
Requirements of Protein Scientist:
· Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Structure Biology, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, or related discipline.
· Deep knowledge and hands-on experience on rational design of polymerase, polymerase expression and purification.
· Good knowledge of enzymatic assays
· At least 3 years of experience in protein purification with AKTA: size exclusion, Ion Exchange, etc.
· Strong problem-solving skills and data analysis skills.
· Good communication skill and ability to work in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
· Flexibility, and the capability and willingness to perform a wide range of duties.
Plus (any of the following):
· Detailed knowledge and expertise in enzyme kinetics.
· Good knowledge of next generation sequencing.
· Proficiency in structure determination using X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
