Job description
1Organise clinic rooms, prepare and clean treatment areas before and after treatment sessions. 2To prepare and raise the necessary paperwork for each clinic, ensuring equipment is available when required. 3Check all patient data on patient database is correct and accurate and ensure all actions, patient contact, clinic outcomes, decisions, queries and telephone calls, etc. are recorded on the patient administration system in a timely fashion.
4To maintain contact and good communication between the service and patients, carers, clinicians, referrers, contractors and other departments, outside agencies and professionals including transport services, GP surgeries, social services, etc. 5To ensure effective verbal communications are maintained with patients, carers, relatives and members of the health and social care teams. 6To ensure and maintain a team approach in maintaining effective administration services across the Prosthetic Service. 7To work closely with clinicians ensuring they are regularly updated and advised on any potential problems that may have arisen, e.g.
manufacturing problems or queries. 8To attend the satellite clinic at Camborne and Redruth Community Hospital, or other settings as required. 9To type and print letters to patients, therapists and GPs and to carry out photocopying as required. 10To provide cover in the absence of members of the Prosthetic Administration Team e.g.
annual or sick leave carrying out additional duties as required. 11Inputting data onto limb measuring forms and repair/adjustments forms within the clinic as directed by Prosthetist. 12Act as chaperone at any clinic, as requested by patient or clinical staff member. 13Escort patients to and from clinic rooms, assisting the less able to dress / undress as necessary, ensuring their privacy, dignity, safety and comfort.
14Prepare appropriate equipment for casting under the direction of the Prosthetists. Provide assistance during the casting process with patient transfers and with the casting technique under the direction of the clinician. Perform specialist task following completion of appropriate training such as backfill of casts. 15Weigh patients as required.
Ensure patients accurate weight is brought to the attention of the requesting clinician and documented appropriately. 16Assist in loading and unloading equipment from the pool car for weekly satellite clinics. 17Be responsible for recording the treatment session accurately, legibly and fully, in accordance with Livewell documentation policies and current local, national and professional guidelines. 18Undertake specific responsibilities when delegated to by Line Manager, other manager or clinical team.
19To undertake mandatory and other training as directed by Livewell Southwest. 20To participate in continuing role / personal development using the appraisal system. 21To receive line management support and supervision. 22To contribute to any audit process.
23To behave in a manner which does not bring the organisation into disrepute. 24Respond to patient requests for socks and supplies and issue as appropriate. Enter data into the service database, monitor stock levels and maintain minimum stock levels by placing orders for replacements as required. 25To abide by all departmental and organizational policies in respect of infection control, cleaning, social distancing, wearing and disposing of PPE.
