Senior Proposals Specialist

KBR’s global business comprises two main segments – Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) and Government Solutions (GS). This role sits within STS in the Integrated Solutions business unit. Integrated Solutions is the engineering and project delivery group providing services which include front-end and detailed engineering, procurement, construction services, and program management primarily in the hydrocarbons and energy transition industries.

Our Leatherhead office is seeking a Senior Proposal Specialist to support the growth of our Integrated Solutions – International business unit. Our business focuses Sustainable solutions in the upstream and downstream hydrocarbon markets across the spectrum of onshore, offshore, brownfield, and greenfield services. We offer a range of professional services from front end feasibility and conceptual studies through pre-FEED, FEED, detailed design, EPC, EPCm, PMC, consulting services and digital solutions.

The Senior Proposal Specialist is a key member of the proposals department and will be responsible for supporting the Head of Proposals in ensuring that KBR continues to deliver the highest quality proposal documentation. The Senior Proposal Specialist forms part of the pursuit team that works closely with sales (business development) and operations (project director) in ensuring we offer creative, client focused and winning proposals.

Responsibility

The person leads small/medium sized proposals, pre-qualifications, executive summaries, knowledge store, client presentations and supports project directors and business development directors on major pursuits.

The Senior Proposal Specialist is responsible for:

  • Proposal planning and co-ordination of proposal team activities. Assisting with the definition of proposal deliverables and facilitating their completion.
  • Ensuring adherence to proposals procedures and providing guidance to others involved in proposal preparation processes (from kick-off to red team reviews).
  • Ensuring proposals are responsive to invitation to tender documents.
  • Developing, coordinating and producing win themes and strategies – differentiating us from our competitors.
  • Writing individual sections of proposals or, for smaller proposals, the whole proposal.
  • Conducting reviews of bids prior to submission to ensure submissions are to a high quality and to KBR standards
  • Supporting business development / operations in developing all aspects of the bid.
  • Standing in for the Head of Proposals and Manager of proposals in their absence.
  • Supporting the maintenance of data / information needed for the preparation of proposals.
  • Preparation of expressions of interest, pre-qualifications, client presentations and support on other sales and marketing activities.
  • Manage the continual upkeep and development of knowledge stores including standard company information, experience lists, executive summaries and all proposals related information
  • Drives the bid team to follow processes and carries out due diligence before submitting a proposals
  • Assist the development of bid processes
  • Assist in developing client presentations
  • Reporting to Senior Management on proposal activities and status.

Experience

Skills will have been typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in engineering, science or similar discipline and a relevant number of years of combined experience (sales, engineering, project management, construction or operations) in the hydrocarbon industry.

Good understanding of proposal principles and international EPC business.

Experience of delivering proposals for clients worldwide in the energy business. Experience of delivering collaborative proposals such as with JV partners and / or other global offices. Experience of working on proposals and pre-qualifications for Middle East and Far East based clients in the conventional energy sector.

  • Editing skills - must be able to review and edit work of others
  • Deadlines – works well under pressure of tight deadlines
  • Flexibility – some evening or weekend work will be required on tight bid deadlines.
