Project Support Officer
Salary: Up to £30k/annum
Location: Hamble, Southampton
Our client is a world-renowned manufacturer of next generation fibre and optic products which are utilised within semiconductor applications and medical diagnostic devices, they utilise highly sophisticated laser production techniques in order to meet growing demand from their global customer base.
They are currently in a phase of rapid growth and expansion from both a people perspective and capital expenditure at their Hamble based facility. Their products are innovative and complex and their ethos is low volume and high quality. Our client is an integral part of a bigger group who are global leaders in providing next generation technology solutions to their customers.
Purpose
To provide support to project leads in delivering business growth through the efficient and profitable implementation of key customer and development projects.
Main Responsibilities
Administrative support to projects:
- Maintain projects in accordance with company product development processes with clear on-time, on budget and design to cost targets
- Produce project plans using MS Project and other tools
- Minute meetings both customer facing and internal, summarise key outcomes and follow up actions
- Support the preparation of customer proposals and road map business cases
- Maintain alignment to NPI stage gated procedures
- Assist with creation of periodic reporting on project progress
Document control - project and design documents
- Documentation maintenance & storage according to company prescribed locations
- Support with document preparation across the projects
Adherence to business best practice
- Ensure compliance with the company QMS
- Ensure adherence to Export Compliance requirements

Person Specification
Essential
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc)
- Curiosity for technology
- Excellent communication skills
- Time management and prioritisation skills
- Non-smoker/non-vaper
- Fluent in English - verbal and written
Desirable
- Experience in a previous role
- Working knowledge of ISO9001:2015
- Experience with MS Project, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with SAP

- Advanced FM database training
- Change control and development processes
- IP policy
- New part number generation
- Regulatory compliance, WEEE, RoHS, CE
- Computer literate (Excel - Advanced; Word - Intermediate; PowerPoint - Intermediate, MS Project - Intermediate)
- Manufacturing techniques and philosophies
- Laser/fibre physics
- Working knowledge of all WI's & TPs required for building & testing fibre and laser products
- QPL QMS and ISO requirements
- Analytic and negotiation skills
- Commercial Awareness
- NPD and NPI
The Project Support Officer must be an enthusiastic result driven individual who can show flexibility in all aspects of their work. It is vital that they are an excellent communicator with all levels of personnel and be confident in influencing others in a positive manner in order to meet strict deadlines and budgetary requirements. They must be able to manage their own workload independently and also demonstrate willingness to adapt in order to meet changing business needs. They should be skilled in managing conflict to ensure project success.
