Main duties of the job

  • Provide support to the Early diagnosis and Personalised Cancer Care teams for a range of projects, this may include administrative and other tasks as directed.
  • Setting up and maintaining project documentation and producing project reports when needed.
  • Organising relevant stakeholder meetings, including scheduling meetings, preparation of documentation for board meetings and recording of notes and actions.
  • Support the workstream teams to ensure that the portfolio of tasks are planned, managed and delivered effectively.

Working for our organisation

As Project Support Officer you will work as part of a dynamic team to support Transformation Partners in Health and Care (TPHC) to transform care for patients. This will include providing project management support to the delivery lead of a programme to ensure outputs are delivered effectively and to time, and that all pan-London outputs align with, and support, local transformation programmes across Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) and Strategic Planning Groups.

The Transforming Cancer Services Team (TCST) which is part of TPHC supports the delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan across London. We work to improve the early detection of cancer and access to personalised care as well as implementation of the 28-day faster diagnosis standard. We work with patients, health and social care services and the third sector.

The pan-London Transforming Cancer Services Team are responsible for:

  • A once for London approach to implementing the NHS Long Term Plan
  • Bringing together partners to enable strategic decision making and mutual accountability
  • Providing subject matter expertise, evidence and intelligence for cancer stakeholders
  • Developing strategic and clinical guidance as well as information for patients
  • Ensuring the work we do is informed by service users and clinical experts
  • Working to reduce variation and inequalities
  • Supporting primary care development and education
  • Targeted service improvement in secondary care

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As Project Support Officer, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team to support Transformation Partners in Health and Care to transform care for patients.

This will include providing project management support to the Delivery Lead of a programme to ensure programme outputs are delivered effectively and to time and that all pan-London outputs align with and support local transformation programmes across Integrated Care Boards and Strategic Planning Groups.

The post holder is a key member of the team whose overarching goal is to enable, promote and support the effective use of data, information, knowledge, and technology to improve, inform and support a portfolio of projects, services, and initiatives. The post holder will engage extensively with internal and external colleagues to support delivery.

The post holder will:

  • Provide high quality support to teams to ensure that the portfolio of projects is planned, managed, and delivered effectively
  • Manage specific tasks, lead reporting and analysis across a range of specialties, functions, and projects
  • Ensure accurate and open communication and co-ordination with a range of organisations and individuals, researching and drafting correspondence and papers

Qualifications/Knowledge/Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Further training and experience in project management and/or performance management and/or business process activity and/or experience of NHS change management processes
  • Awareness of London healthcare policy

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills with the ability to persuade, influence and negotiate to achieve successful outcomes
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and evaluate information and draw appropriate conclusions
  • Independent thinker with strong problem-solving and sound judgement
  • Minute taking skills required

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of working in health service, local authority, academic, or related field
  • Experience and ability to work in partnership with other organisations
