Role purpose:


The Government Security Team is responsible for providing operational support to government and law enforcement agencies in order to meet our obligations under the Investigatory Powers Act. We provide a real-time, 24 hour service and our technical solutions are at the heart of our ability to meet these obligations and in the process help tackle serious crime and save lives. We offer an industry leading capability and need the best people to ensure we maintain this.

As a project specialist you will be providing vital system, process and administrative support to the Capability Development Team and will play a key part in the delivery of multiple complex, innovative technical solutions in a fast moving telecommunications environment. Driving everything from planning to implementation, your excellent organisational and communication skills coupled with your proactive & collaborative approach will directly influence the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the project. The team consists of Project Managers, Business Analysts, Technical Architects and Test Specialists managing a multi-million pound delivery portfolio.



What you'll do;


  • Ensure the agreed project management methods, standards and processes are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist the Project Managers in the production and maintenance of project and portfolio plans.
  • Develop and maintain the project library, filing, recording and reporting systems.
  • Develop and implement appropriate configuration management procedures, processes and systems
  • Co-ordinate the production of all reports including portfolio updates, project summary, finance and resource reports.
  • Set up and maintain systems for recording project costs and expenditure.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and invoices
  • Define and document procedures in accordance with agreed methodology
  • Advise and assist project team members in the application of project procedures, disciplines and recording and reporting standards.
  • Implement and manage RAID logs and change control records.
  • Develop and support effective communication mechanisms between the project teams and stakeholders
  • Where required, deliver stand-alone work packages or projects as directed by the Senior Project Manager

Who you are;


  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills, along with the personal tenacity and the ability to drive through to conclusion in a dynamic and challenging environment
  • Excellent planning skills with the ability to work across different projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent skills in MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, procurement and collaboration tools
  • Experience of producing programme and project plans to describe stage, phase, dependency & milestones. Able to differentiate between programmes and projects in order to provide appropriate support.
  • Ability to work across the organisation and liaise with other functions to deliver the programme/project.
  • Self-motivated and takes the initiative with a customer centric style
  • Flexible with the ability to maintain effectiveness in a changing environment

Desired knowledge and experience:

  • Security cleared to SC level or willing to undergo clearance
  • Experience of working in a telecommunications environment
  • Knowledge of relevant UK legislation including RIPA, DRIPA, IPA & DPA
  • Familiarity with the Vodafone Project Delivery Lifecycle
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, Waterfall, Kanban)
