What you will do
- Accountable to the Lead Project Planner/ Project Controls Manager for the quality and integrity of project plans and schedule analysis in terms of time, cost and resources
- Compile standard suites of reports to ensure project manager has up to date and accurate information
- Verify the maintenance and accuracy of project plans, ensuring that they reflect the project objectives, are updated in a timely manner and communicated at all relevant levels
- Track weekly/monthly project performance plans to ensure project data accuracy.
- Gather data in standard formats from other business areas to support project/planning analysis.
- Co-ordinate activities with other related business areas to support the planning process.
- Manage and communicate issues to senior management
- For the more experienced roles, you would also deliver:
- Professional planning and control, providing expertise to the business area with the ability to challenge cost and schedule performance
- Effective resource planning, determining the project requirements and planning accordingly.
- Proactive management and resolution of resourcing issues and conflicts with stakeholders
- Planning and project control processes through regular project control reviews
- Application and reporting of EVM & CPA
- Understanding Risk and Opportunity management and maintenance
- The implementation of best practice tools and processes to drive planning improvements
- Outstanding customer service, delivering on agreed performance targets
- Bid planning
- Team metrics and reports
Dependent on experience, you may also lead planning activities and initiatives. You may supervise, mentor and coach less experienced planners, identifying development needs and maximising the performance and potential of employees
What we are looking for
- Planning and project controls with an understanding of project management methodologies
- Familiarity with project lifecycle management techniques
- Risk, Earned Value Management and Critical Path awareness
- Familiar working knowledge of SAP and planning/project management systems.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload
- Knowledge or awareness of Leonardo product portfolio
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational skills, demonstrated through ability to plan, prioritise and time manage

For the more experienced roles, you would also bring to us:
Ability to provide supervision and support to team on planning and project control techniques, including the training of new starts and the ongoing development of team members- A positive contributor to the IPT, working with multiple functions including Engineering, Finance, Commercial, Procurement, Manufacturing & Supply Chain.
- Ability to influence and motivate project teams
- Experienced in Risk, Earned Value Management and Critical Path Analysis
- Challenge the forecast of schedule and cost to achieve high quality project plans
- Experienced in use of one or more Planning/ERP Tools (e.g. SAP, Oracle P6)
