It is an exciting time to join the Yorkshire Dales team. The ambition for woodland and wood pasture is being finalised and we are now at the point of realising this ambition alongside the White Rose Forest, our tenants, volunteers, rangers and other key partners.
Within this programme, we have a role for a Project Officer for Treescapes to join the project team, on a 15 month fixed term contract or internal secondment opportunity. This is an incredible opportunity for someone to support the development of projects designed to both increase the number of trees in the Yorkshire Dales, with all the benefits they bring, and also increase access to the outdoors for diverse communities.
Location: will be our office in Malham, however there will be an opportunity to agree hybrid working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust.
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term contract until November 2024 with the possibility of an extension

- Work with partners including tenant farmers and rangers, plant trees across over 250ha of National Trust land
- Increase the number of people involved in tree planting on our land, and work with colleagues to effectively communicate our work
- Help ensure funding and reporting of the project ensures the project meets its goals, through identifying and addressing risks to delivery.
- Demonstrable working knowledge of habitat management, designations and legislation, ideally within the upland context
- Ability to deal positively with stressful and dynamic situations and be resilient to challenge
- Comfortable working in challenging upland environments
- Experience working with communities and managing stakeholder relationships
- Experience of timely and accurate reporting and of presenting to a diverse audience
- An ability to work with complex information and ability to make clear recommendations for leadership teams.
