This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to contribute to a world-leading University and work with a well-established Project Management team to manage a range of projects; these will vary greatly in terms of size, scope and nature.
The Information and Digital Group (IDG) provides a range of essential digital services to support the learning and teaching, research, administrative and commercial activities of the University. Working as part of a team of Project Managers alongside Analysts, Service Owners, Product Managers and customers the people in this role will enable the Strategic Change team to meet the strategic and short-term objectives of customer groups. You will deliver the required project outputs within agreed tolerances. You will plan, manage and monitor the delivery of projects and ensure that they have a sound quality management process.
The role also involves identifying opportunities to improve how the University manages projects to meet current and emerging needs and coaching University staff who are working on projects. Using established standard processes (BCS, PRINCE2, ITIL), you will work closely with our customers at all levels across the University. You will establish effective working relationships at a strategic level, influencing the customer strategy and corresponding service strategies.

Job Description
To act as Project Manager for a range of projects undertaken across the University. To deliver the required project outputs within agreed tolerances. Projects managed will vary in scale and nature.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, manage and monitor the delivery of projects.
- Assist with project definition.
- Manage the gathering of requirements and documentation of business processes.
- Ensure that the appropriate governance structure for the project is in place.
- Matrix-manage and motivate project teams.
- Proactively manage the risks within a project and plan appropriate avoidance or reduction actions.
- Assume responsibility for change control and configuration management.
- Work with the Project Board, or its appointed Project Assurance roles, to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project.
- Identify and secure any support and advice required for the management, planning and control of the project.
- Liaise closely with stakeholders across the University to ensure that user requirements and quality expectations are properly understood, and that project communication is effective.
- Produce and present project status reports to relevant stakeholders and project governance.
- Ensure that projects have a sound quality management process.
- Manage the project budget.
- Manage project resources and initiate corrective action where necessary.
- Develop formal tender documents and co-ordinate procurement exercises as required.
- Ensure that any contract documentation is appropriate for the needs of the project and ongoing support of the relevant service.
- Preparing for the transition of project outputs (processes, systems, policies) into service.
- Champion the benefits of effective project management within the wider University.
- Contribute to discussions regarding the on-going development and enhancement of project management strategies, policies and documentation.
