Our Public Sector client is looking to recruit a Project Manager to deliverand identify opportunities to reduce costs & deliver savings across Our Clients services on a initial 6 month contract to start ASAP.
The Project Manager will be responsible for:
- Manage the successful delivery of a project on time, to budget and of the right quality through appropriate use of Our Clients standard project management methodology, reporting progress to the Project Board and ultimately bringing the project to a controlled close.
- Manage project budgets in accordance with Our Clients financial procedures and regulations; managing actual and forecast expenditure to within agreed tolerances and reporting variances to the Project Board as necessary.
- As part of the Business Case development, lead the business in exploring options, fully costing these and identifying realistic and measurable project benefits (includingestablishing suitable benefit owners and putting in place appropriate benefit realisation plans) to support informed decision making.
- Build, maintain and execute a fully integrated, realistic and deliverable end to end project plan (including any standalone contingency, transition, testing and/or training plans) identifying key milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, critical path and associated assumptions in line with the overarching programme and portfolio plan (as applicable).
- Establish and maintain appropriate governance structures to support and enable delivery, integrated with other existing portfolio, programme and business decision[1]making bodies as appropriate.
- Monitor and manage project resources, forecasting future requirements using the project plan and ensuring suitable budget is built into the project business case.
- Manage the project change control process, approving all potential change requests, establishing their potential consequences, assessing against pre-agreed tolerances and putting forward change requests for Board approval where appropriate.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Experience in a Project Manager (or equivalent) role within a change environment with detailed knowledge of principles, methods, techniques & tools associated with the project lifecycle and how to apply them to best effect and measurable benefit.
- Experience in projects within the areas of Historic Houses, Culture/Museums, Libraries.
- Skilled at challenging the accepted way of doing things, seeing answers to problems and offering innovative solutions in a way that supports informed decision-making.
- Evidence of success in building and managing effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of authority; building and managing effective project teams.
- Evidence of effective risk and issue management within a programme/project context.
- Demonstrable skills in the application of effective tools and techniques to plan, sequence and dependency manage – and using these to effect when things don’t go to plan.
- PRINCE 2 qualified or another professional project management qualification with detailed knowledge of the practical application of PRINCE2/MSP methodologies (or similar) principles, methods, techniques & tools with proven project management experience. (Desirable)
