Project Manager
Remote with occasional travel to Serco offices and contract sites
Full Time, Permanent
Between £35,000 and £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Here at Serco, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Projects, Programmes and Transformation team (PPT).
As a Project Manager you will lead and deliver projects across the full-project lifecycle, from definition through to closure, either as part of a wider programme or on a stand-alone basis. You will also help Serco win new and repeat business by participating in bids, typically being responsible for the creation of a transition solution (estimate, plan, cost model and approach) as part of a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary team. Our Project Managers are expected have substantial experience defining and leading large-scale projects in a complex and demanding environment.

As part of this you will:*

Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the project and project team
- Be disciplined, using effective leadership and management controls
- Use appropriate industry good practice estimating and planning techniques
- Apply appropriate project governance; ‘stop/go’ decision points; method selection; and project organisation to each stage of the project lifecycle
- Coordinate / participate in business case production and maintenance
- Track project costs against budget
- Schedule and manage project resources
- Deliver agreed business case and project outputs
- Demonstrate effective identification, prioritisation, assessment and mitigation of risks and issues, including escalation to the SRO
- Be fully compliant with project governance, reporting and tracking
- Demonstrate effective use of suitable methods and lifecycles, seeking advice from the PPT community where needed
- Define the project scope
- Collaborate with a bid team in order to create a transition response / solution
- Use previous lessons to inform a bid approach, estimate, and response
- Ensure the transition solution submitted as part of a Serco bid adheres to Serco methods and promotes Serco’s capability and use of industry good practice.

What you’ll need to do the role*:
- Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Project Management qualification / certification (e.g. APM, PRINCE2, PMI ) is highly desirable
- Knowledge of / prior application of good practice project delivery methods and standards (e.g. PRINCE2 or equivalent)
- Able to use project planning / scheduling tools and software (e.g. MS Project or equivalent)
- Experience of full lifecycle project management delivery in a complex operating environment, and managing multiple constraints (time, quality, cost)
- Experience of working in a pre-sales / bidding environment, especially in a government outsourcing context, is highly desirable
- Experience of engaging a wide range of stakeholders. Able to communicate, collaborate, and influence as appropriate
- Experience of working in a high-pressure environment and managing multiple demands at once
- Ability to drive clarity from ambiguity
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Working within a matrix organisation, you will be able to forge good working relationships quickly and collaborate as part of a varied team
- Ability to achieve SC clearance
- Project management delivery experience is required
- Experience of bidding in a government outsourcing content is desired.
