Using their distinctive steel framework, they specialise in constructing permanent and semi-permanent structures. They have a reputation for establishing lasting relationships with their clients and currently work with some excellent retained clients, including Formula E, the All England Lawn Tennis Club (Wimbledon), Goodwood Racecourse, Ticketmaster, and they are extending their connections to include Formula One, TV, and film.
Person specifications:
Essential
- Experience as a Senior Designer, Design Manager or a similar
- Background in Architectural Engineering / Structural Engineering or similar
- Understanding of UK building regulations as well as construction methods and materials
- Highly skilled in AutoCAD and SketchUp design software
- Confidence and experience in presenting to a team, clients and the leadership team
- Line Management Experience
- Experience of dealing with suppliers
- Experience in procurement management
- Experience in modular construction, pre-fabrication or/and MMC
- Knowledge and expertise in overseeing the fabrication process. Understanding drawing symbols and references, attention to detail, the ordering process from negotiation with suppliers to tracking deliveries
Job responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design process from concept to production, understanding and ensuring all outputs from the design team fit the client design requirements, are quality checked and completed within the required timeframe.
- Responsible for maintaining all client facing communications, presentations & technical submissions are correct. Identifying errors, instructing the team on changes & amendments and signing off anything that leaves the design hub.
- Produce High level technical documents using Sketch up and AutoCAD to produce carcass drawings, piece/component drawings, sections, floor plans and electrical plans, researching new technologies to improve our techniques.
- Interpret and understand structural calculation documents, working closely with structural engineers to ensure every structure is fit for purpose achieving structural sign off with client
- Strong understanding of construction methods and materials, to expertly advise Project Managers on those best suited to a project.
- Responsible for the continual development of company’s steel structures driving costs and time efficiencies down whilst ensuring the highest standards of quality are maintained.
- Keep up to date with relevant UK building regulations, codes and legislation, ensuring that all company’s designs meet regulatory and legislative requirements
- Form part of the leadership team, contributing strategic direction from a design perspective and overall progression of the business.
- Responsible for the Management and development of the design team, lead weekly design meetings and set annual team objectives
- Maintain regular communication with the wider design team, providing project updates in weekly team meetings and at management level.
