A Lab is a co-located team who work together on key projects to deliver value at pace by designing services that people find useful, easy and engaging to use. Typically, a Lab has a strong focus on sophisticated problem solving in an agile environment where engineers are free to experiment and build innovative products which will transform the way our customers engage with us.

The Engage Me Lab as part of Insurance and Wealth. It has built a Native Mobile App to transform the current digital experience in the pensions eco system by creating a new channel to our existing channels, in order to meet Lloyds Banking Group's vision of becoming the best bank for customers. The feature teams within the Scottish Widows Mobile App landscape will be building, integrating and delivering new products / journeys to our customers.
Job Description
Location: Edinburgh
Salary: £52,245 - £58,050 (depending on experience) base salary, plus annual discretionary bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays

Engage Me lab are part of Workplace Platform and our lab purpose is “Helping customers get easy access to their Insurance products and being the launch pad for customer journeys”. We're the team that looks after the Scottish Widows Mobile App – our native iOS and Android application that allows customers to view and engage with their pension.
Our lab also looks after “Single Customer View” (SCV) which is the view on Internet Banking that allows current account customers to see and transact with other products within the group. So for example if a customer logs in to their BoS Internet Banking app and has a Halifax Share Dealing account, they’ll see their balance and can SSO in to their account. We provide similar capability to Motor Insurance, Home Insurance and others.
Our 2023 pipeline includes several exciting new initiatives that will provide digital capability to IP&I and beyond, including Digital Inbox and enhancements to SCV and SW App.
About the role:
You'll work closely with our Product Owners, Engineering, Infrastructure and Enterprise/Solution Architecture specialists to evangelise the importance of planned and co-ordinated release delivery. You'll ensure changes are delivered in a safe and controlled manner, adhering to technical/security governance across the mobile app platform.
You’ll be responsible for the planning, coordination and facilitation of software packages/products for our mobile app. Role modelling robust risk management and effective & collaborative stakeholder working relationships. You'll also coach and mentor engineers on the best practices of change governance and safe deployments into production.
You'll collaborate closely with fellow Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Architects and Product Owners to deliver new products to market.
Here's where you'll make a difference:
  • You’ll bring project delivery experience in an agile environment with a strong understanding of release management enabling a continuous deployment approach.
  • You’ll have experience in delivering digital transformation projects / programmes.
  • You'll ensure that releases meet the required governance from a technical and security perspective
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships at multiple levels
What we need from you:
  • You'll lead the release delivery plan, identifying key dependencies and the critical chain to deliver customer outcomes and achieve speed to market.
  • Collaborating with the implementation manager to ensure the required logistics for the implementation event are fully planned and cascaded across the relevant partners.
  • Lead third party engagements across the platform and wider value stream
  • You’ll be experienced in creating release plans, particularly running parallel releases, spanning multiple teams, identifying key milestones to measure delivery progress.
  • Experience in an Agile environment
  • Experience in running/attending senior governance forums.
  • Ideally proven technical skills in a mobile domain or similar digital platform.
  • A validated leader, with an ability to share a vision in line with the organisation’s.
