The Opportunity
The Project Manager is the principal representative of KAEFER on a project with accountability for commercial, financial and SHEQ performance.
This specific role assumes Project Manager responsibilities for all KAEFER’s operations on the site both term and project work as identified by management, including delivery of commercial, quality and planning aspects.
The position will cover all phases of allocated projects to ensure on time delivery within defined budgets, without compromise on safety or quality. Key elements of the role include, but not limited to, client and stakeholder management; commercial, financial and SHEQ performance; project controls, change & risk management and leadership of personnel, whilst proactively seeking new opportunities for project growth and innovative methods.
In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to continually ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with internal policies & procedures and remain compliant with current legislation.
Key duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- In accordance with certification to the standards ISO 9001; ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, comply with and contribute to the effective implementation of the current KAEFER Ltd

- Support the Business Development and Bids teams with appropriate technical support to ensure that the service capability of KAEFER is adequately communicated to current and prospective clients
- Undertake estimating activities on allocated projects
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to co-ordinate and allocate appropriate re-source levels across projects to ensure efficient utilisation of the resource pool
- Close liaison with Operations Manager to ensure compliance with and delivery of contractual obligations
- Where applicable, work with the Planning and Commercial teams to monitor project progress and recommending changes as required
- Capture events impacting costs and programmes in order to timely update project status and forecasts
- Ensure contract changes / compensation events are captured, ensuring that impact evaluation on costs and schedules is undertaken with the Commercial team (NEC 3/4 compliant)
- Implement adequate project controls to improve the efficiency and enhance the profitability of projects
- Ensure timely programming and change notifications are communicated to support other internal departments, i.e. HR; Fleet; Procurement and Design.
- Principal contact for correspondence and meetings with 3rd Parties; i.e. Sub-contractors; Local Authorities; Designers; Consultants; Utilities & Services, etc.
- Support the production of Monthly Contract Review reports and comply with the business requirements for CVR completion, submission and reporting
The Person
The ideal candidate for the role will have excellent report writing skills with strict adherence to reporting deadlines, as well as excellent organisations skills and attention to detail.
They will have the ability to plan, prioritise and organize work, with the ability to set goals, create and implement action plans, and evaluate the process and results.
Essential:
- Demonstrate excellent working knowledge of interpretation of contracts and design and implementation of change management
- Excellent level of understanding in resource allocation
- Strong communication skills across a range of stakeholders
- Experience and strong ability with IT, not least Microsoft Office (including Excel)
- Adaptable and flexible to a fast paced and varied range of tasks
Desirable:
- Relevant project management certification (APM, Prince2, PMI)
