We are a leading structural steel specialist based in the West Midlands with an annual turnover exceeding £25 million. Our company specialises in delivering high-quality steel structures for a wide range of industries, including commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. With a strong reputation for excellence and innovation, we are seeking a talented and experienced Structural Steel Project Manager to join our dynamic team.
Position Overview:
As a Structural Steel Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the successful delivery of structural steel projects. You will be responsible for coordinating various aspects of project management, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, quality control, and stakeholder management. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience within the structural steel industry, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning: Develop and implement project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation, in accordance with client requirements and company objectives.
- Budgeting and Cost Control: Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and resources.
- Project Coordination: Oversee and coordinate all project activities, including site inspections, structural design reviews, fabrication, erection, and quality control.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Quality Assurance: Implement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and specifications.
- Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success and minimize disruptions.
- Team Leadership: Provide clear direction, guidance, and support to project teams, including engineers, supervisors, fabricators, and subcontractors, to ensure project objectives are met.
- Health and Safety: Promote and enforce a strong culture of health and safety on all projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely project documentation, reports, progress updates, and financial statements.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify areas for process improvement, innovation, and efficiency gains within project management practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience within the structural steel industry, preferably in a project management role.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel design, fabrication, and erection processes.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering structural steel projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams.
- Strong leadership abilities and the capacity to inspire and motivate project teams.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.
- Bridge experience is considered a bonus but not compulsory.
