This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to work with Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's Digital Team within the Digital Solutions Programme. The purpose of the Digital Solutions Programme is to deliver innovative and exciting digital projects for Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that arise as a result of a national or regional mandate, service improvement or funding opportunity.
As a Project Manager in the Digital Team you will be working on the delivery of projects within the Programme, including the implementation of new technologies across the organisation. The post holder will act as the senior lead for key projects and be the liaison between the Digital Department and various Trust stakeholders and suppliers. You will also be expected to manage projects where you will have to play a strong leadership role.
The post holder would be familiar with Prince 2 and/or Agile project methodologies where practitioner level qualifications would be advantageous. You would benefit from having some technical / system knowledge and experience as you will be required to understand technical requirements and be able to communicate clearly with other stakeholders and users.
- Define, document and safely execute projects (or a number of smaller initiatives) to time, cost and quality criteria and ensure they meet internal and external customer requirements.
- Create robust plans and documents to assist in the implementation of new projects and initiatives.
- Actively contribute to the whole project lifecycle to ensure deliverables are accomplished as specified by Digital Programme Manager, i.e. work on project initiation, delivery and closure activities.
- Support the trust in the design, development, and implementation of systems. Supporting operational staff with the formation of support models as systems go into the live BAU environment
- Regular written and verbal reporting of project progress, potential changes to plan, issues, risks, exceptions etc.
- Liaise with suppliers in resolving project related problems and developing and monitoring contracts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define, document and safely execute projects (or a number of smaller initiatives) to time, cost and quality criteria and ensure they meet internal and external customer requirements.
- Actively contribute to the whole project lifecycle to ensure deliverables are accomplished as specified by Digital Programme Manager, i.e. work on project initiation, delivery and closure activities.

- Provide reference point to undertake and direct investigative work where appropriate for projects and programmes in the trust to offer technological solutions that are aligned with the Digital Strategy and within the capability of the department.
- Present requests for change to the IT change advisory board on behalf of projects and stakeholders.
- Create robust plans and documents to assist in the implementation of new projects and initiatives.
- Foster strong working relationships with departments/individuals around the trust to promote the adoption of new systems working practice.
- Line manage project staff with the project team, their delivery of work and development.
- Manage the workload of project staff including those outside of direct reporting team e.g. staff from other departments in the Trust.
- Support the trust in the design, development, and implementation of systems. Supporting operational staff with the formation of support models as systems go into the live BAU environment
- Through training and self-exploration the post-holder will be expected to become familiar and competent with the technical capabilities of the department.
- Establish project board structures, produce reports, and attend Project Board meetings.
- To proactively monitor and report project progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
- To appraise and manage risks to projects to successful outcome.
- To undertake post project reviews and benefits realisation.
- Regular written and verbal reporting of project progress, potential changes to plan, issues, risks, exceptions etc.
- Liaise with suppliers in resolving project related problems and developing and monitoring contracts.
- Ensuring project budgets are managed effectively.
- Reporting to Trust Executive where required, progress Digital Projects.
- To apply interpretative and creative thinking in relation to the scope of projects.
- To build and inspire a sense of ownership for projects.
- To fully understand key drivers for change that will affect projects and to plan accordingly.
- To report regularly on benefits realisation progress and issues
- To manage and account for all resources allocated to projects
- Assist in the strategic development and planning of IT projects.
- To be responsible for analysing complex inter-linked and inter-dependant IT project issues.
- To ensure the timely and accurate production of project status reports for senior management as required.
- Required to present complex, sensitive and possibly contentious information to large groups using appropriate media and techniques.
- Required to carry out impact assessment on options in relation to budgets, staff and other resources, timetables and quality of outcomes.
- Out of Hours On Call – participate in an on call rota as/when required for project related work (e.g. during system go-live) in line with the on call procedures.
- Assist the Programme Manager to prepare budget costs for submission to board for approval.
- To contribute towards the development of IT policies, procedures, standards.
