Job description

We are seeking a Project Manager who wants to take responsibility for building projects from inception to completion. This is a great opportunity for you to work and develop within an internationally renowned consultant, working on a variety of projects with a CAPEX from £1m to £15m.

Progression opportunity to work on substantial landmark projects is available once confidence has been gained within the business.

You will be based at our extensive Epsom campus which includes our brand-new office in generous grounds. Occasion working from our central London HQ in London Victoria and client offices will be required. Our advanced agile working practises will enable you to work from home and different locations with ease.

You will have the opportunity to work on building refurbishment and new build projects which will enable you to demonstrate your project management abilities developed through past experiences as a building surveyor (preferred), architect or engineer. You are likely to have circa 3 yrs post graduate or similar multi-disciplinary client facing project delivery experience through the entire project life cycle, ideally from within a consultancy environment.

Working with the support of the experienced PDP team you will be responsible for delivering schemes to budget and programme through RIBA Stages 0-7 and be the main point of contact with our clients on these projects.

Requirements

  • Ideally, you will have property sector focused experience with Project Management/Building Surveying/Architectural background, with oversight of design development, project management and construction contract administration experience (JCT/NEC)
  • Experience of project management of refurbishment and new build projects from inception to completion (RIBA Stages 0 – 7)
  • Experience of working closely with multi-disciplinary design and cost management teams
  • Strong understanding of the CDM Regulations and the roles/responsibilities which flow therein
  • Strong client facing and customer service skills
  • Ability to lead and manage the multi-disciplinary delivery team in a positive and confident manner
  • Experience in managing design teams to achieve planning permissions and building control approvals
  • Experience of managing the constructor procurement process and managing subsequent tender analysis
  • Proven project management skills with a sound knowledge of construction stage activity, contract administration, quality/compliance management
  • Proven financial control of total project costs, their monitoring and reporting to the client
  • Confident client and stakeholder management
  • Strong IT skills including MS Office suite and MS Project (gantt chart scheduling/tracking/reporting)
  • Sound business acumen and strong risk/commercial awareness to deliver profits
  • Understanding of BIM and its inputs/outputs
  • The ability to make decisions and to act on your own initiative
  • To demonstrate a proactive and flexible working attitude
  • Current, clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of project management and contract administration activity through the project life cycle (RIBA Stages 1-7)
  • Establish and update project controls and progress reporting through the project life cycle
  • Develop and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Ensure that there is a common understanding of brief/programme/costs/constraints/risk across the team
  • Leading the project team – building, motivating, maintaining, coaching, guiding and developing the team
  • Communicating, liaising, reporting to and managing the client on a project by project basis.
  • Deliver projects within corporate and business policies, directives, guidance and procedures
  • Manage the project within client and Atkins budgets
  • Develop and control structured risk management through the project from inception to completion
  • Administer and negotiate change control from inception through to completion
  • Manage the procurement and analysis process
  • Administer the construction contract during RIBA stages 5/6 and control handover of the asset to the client
  • Retain oversight of quality through design/procurement and construction stages. Identify interventions as required
  • Monitoring and report performance against programme, technical quality, financial and KPI targets
