Job Title: Project Planner / Planning Engineer

Location: Working from home with occasional site visits to Warwick & the Midlands (travel and car required)

Contract: Initial 6 Months

Day Rate: Circa* £420 (Inside IR35)

About Our Client

Their Construction department delivers infrastructure projects safely and efficiently and brings together all the major digging, tunnelling, excavating, civils, mechanical and engineering work for their large gas transmission projects. It's incredibly diverse and challenging construction work.

About the Role




The Project Planning Team are aligned to support Construction. The Project Planners provide a comprehensive programme planning service for the project teams responsible for delivering Gas projects.

It will be your role to develop and implement efficient end to end programmes, including critical path and total float analysis, earned value management techniques, and leading indicators for risk mitigation to ensure successful delivery of our projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Own all aspects of the planning process from the critical path, the business's programme and the contractor programmes
  • Accountable for entire, end-to-end project programmes and communicating across the main project interfaces and key stakeholders
  • During delivery, support the Project Manager to certify that all contractor programmes are compliant to the NEC and works information
  • Provide the Project Manager with analysis of the construction sequence and scope of works to identify options and opportunities in the programme
  • Evaluate the programme for issues with the schedule, deliverability concerns and risks and present programme insights to the project team.
  • Ensure the planning process is working, integrating the master schedule, and ensuring data is robust to provide an accurate picture of progress against baseline.
  • Represent the business whilst engaging with contractor planning resource to complete month-end reporting routines and raise programme issues
  • Provide the Project Manager with recommendations following month-end programme analysis to enable timely decisions for corrective action
  • Carry out impact assessments of early warnings or change events either from our supply chain or Project Manager
  • Assess and validate supply chain progress by applying volumetrics / run rates and attend site during delivery to confirm construction progress
  • Ensure the programme is fully cost loaded with the Budgeted Costs assigned to the appropriate activities and contains all activities required to deliver the programme
About You
  • Extensive planning experience in the construction industry preferably with Gas Industry or Utility experience
  • Experience in delivery of projects during construction and civils installation
  • Advanced user of Primavera P6 planning software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project desirable
  • Strong capability to assess change and complete impact assessments on time risk allowance and forensic analysis
  • Advanced understanding of the key NEC clauses for Planning, Early Warnings and Compensation event
  • Have a working knowledge of and ideally be able to facilitate risk workshops, undertake quantitative risk analysis & schedule risk analysis
  • Membership of a professional organisation such as APM or IET (or equivalent)
