What does taking part in the Collins Aerospace Project Management Industrial Placement involve?
Aimed at highly motivated and ambitious individuals eager to be a part of a world leader within the aerospace and defence industry, this scheme is geared towards supporting the accelerated career development of industrial placements who wish to play an instrumental role in project management of the next generation of civil and military aircraft.
The role is based at Wolverhampton, and this is the home of Actuation Systems at Collins Aerospace. Actuation Systems are the leading experts in fly-by-wire, hydraulic and electro-hydraulic actuation design, Collins Aerospace offers a complete line of actuation products that enhance aircraft performance and reduce pilot workload.
We are looking to recruit a small number of high calibre students who can support Actuation Systems with the effective planning and execution of Project Management right across the lifecycle. We believe in the power of intelligence and partnership to guide us into the next era of flight making the skies and spaces we touch smarter and safer than ever.

You will start your career working in the Project Management Office (PMO), which is the beating heart of project and program management at Actuation Systems. During this time, you will be given initial training and an encyclopaedic knowledge of how a project/program is ran before deploying the knowledge you have been given to change the business and become more profitable every day.
To give you the exposure within different life cycles of products within Actuation Systems there will be opportunity to be involved in the following lifecycle phases:
Strategic & Financial Planning - Guides the development of long-term business objectives, goals, strategies, and actions.
Pursuit to Capture – Guides the identification and pursuit of market opportunities, winning profitable business, and growing the overall business.
Design & Development – Guides turning opportunities into desirable, reliable, producible, and profitable solutions that meet customer requirements
Produce to Deliver – Guides operations activities culminating in delivery that meets customer quality and on-time needs as well as cost targets.
Service & Support – Guides planning and efforts to provide after-sale support to our end customers throughout the life cycle.
A PM within the Collins, leads from the front, living and driving our core values of Engaged, Empowered and Accountable - always. The PM is accountable for all aspects of project performance ensuring that the needs of the business and our diverse customer base are met across key facets such as Schedule, Cost, Quality & Scope to name but a few.

We are looking for the best undergraduates who have the following attributes:
- Students with an interest in Aerospace and Project Management.
- Hold English and Maths GCSE to a minimum grade C or above
