Position Summary
We have a fantastic opportunity available for a Project Engineer at our Nestlé Petcare manufacturing site based in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. The Team have an exciting major Capex Investment Project, supporting the site to expand even further, we are looking for a talented Engineer to focus on the Packaging Element of the Project and they will support us with the implementation and start up phases of the project.

A day in the life of Project Engineer /Packaging Engineer ............
Reporting into the Project Engineering Manager, you will ensure implementation and start-up phases of Capital Investment Projects are met, following the Project Brief, Design Specifications and Nestlé Standards. You will be responsible to lead all packaging related activities in line with corporate process policies in terms of quality, safety, and compliance, ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget and fulfilling the agreed objectives.
Key responsibilities of this role:
- Ensure that the objectives of the investment project charter, design specifications and Nestlé standards are implemented and adhered to.
- Work with stakeholders to develop user requirement specifications, cost estimates, schedules of new infrastructure, facilities, and equipment.
- Execute the project from basic design, through installation to successful commissioning, qualification, and verification, and deliver a vertical start-up.
- Monitoring progress and performance against the project plan; taking action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
- Execute the basic and detailed design of the project based on Nestlé ways of working including principles, standards, local regulations, the defined User Requirements Specifications and the TPM characteristics of a unit operation (safety, quality, affordability, maintainability, operability, and reliability).
- Ensure all the elements of the project (including technical people training, as needed) is performed in such a way that safety is always guaranteed on the whole project site and that a vertical start-up is assured.
- Liaise with Operations and other on-site resources for project work and with R&D, Marketing, and Logistics regarding scope, time plan and budget.
- Identifying, developing, and gathering the resources necessary to complete the project, including 3rd parties.
- Coordinate contractors and other stakeholders, mobilize the necessary resources (internal-external) to guarantee project is completed in time and in full.
- Ensure by design the workers and operators safety, during both the construction and the ongoing operation of the plant.
- Support the start-up manager and their team to ensure a smooth transition to operations after the qualification and verification of the installation.
What will make you successful
To be successful you will either have previous experience within a project engineering department or experience within a fast-paced FMCG Manufacturing environment focused on packing related activities.
Other key attributes would be:
- Ideally MSc in Industrial Engineering or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in technical and/or scientific discipline.
- Good technical knowledge of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging machinery and installations (experience with SERVO systems is a plus).
- Participation in the development of engineering projects as part of a multidisciplinary team with experience supporting Capital Expenditure projects.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Project is a plus), AutoCAD.
