About the Role

Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading , Havant , Belfast or Dublin.

Salary: £44,100 - £66,100 depending on skills and experience + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

Key to our growth ambition, SSE Renewables have an exciting opportunity within our Onshore Design and Delivery team for a Project Engineer to support our engineering activities across our Hydro development projects, such as our Coire Glas Pumped Storage project.

Some of your main accountabilities will include;

  • Coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering resource on pumped storage or new hydro development projects across the UK and Ireland.
  • Participating in the delivery of engineering design and development activities in line with project governance and assurance requirements.
  • Implementing the requirements defined within SSE's governance framework and associated procedures relating to design assurance, safety, quality, and cost.
  • Co-ordinating project interfaces, bringing multi-disciplinary stakeholders together, facilitating or participating in regular updates from the team and producing action plans to ensure satisfactory resolution of risks and issues in a timely manner.
  • Contributing to value engineering initiatives across the development portfolio by identifying and delivering on design refinement and improvement opportunities.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would be looking for you to have:

  • A degree qualification in a relevant STEM subject, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrable experience of design, development and delivery of hydro new build or refurbishment projects.
  • A proven background in coordinating technical support, whilst ensuring delivery of technical assurance and governance on large capital projects.
  • Demonstrable ability of working in and coordinating the efforts of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to deliver engineering excellence on world class projects whilst always striving for continuous improvement.
