The Sustaining Engineer will be responsible for improving and maintaining existing products through the entire lifecycle from detail drawings, calculations, fabrication and machining processes, quality control, assembly, testing, user documentation, operation, and incident investigations.
- Modify, create, and check detail drawings.
- Analyze and design product changes.
- Issue change notices and revise product documentation in the database manager.
- Calculate operational limits, failure points, and update technical information.
- Complete validation testing on product changes or to confirm performance characteristics.
- Organize and document all duties
- Work with machining, and fabrication vendors to ensure parts meet Weatherford’s quality and product requirements.
- Analyze, investigate and apply engineering calculations and knowledge to disposition non-conforming parts and equipment.
- Determine acceptable deviations from material, design, or specified processes.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective action to ensure a consistent, quality product.
- Analyze part manufacture for cost reduction.
- Assist and support the inspection and assembly departments.
- Modify existing equipment to meet customer requirements.
- Select materials and processes to achieve cost and performance objectives.
- Provide technical assistance to operations personnel.
- Investigate customer concerns and incidents for root cause.
- Recommend or implement corrective actions.
- Plan work schedule
- Keep all interested parties informed of progress
- Maintain schedules and task updates
- Manage workload efficiently to keep assignments progressing and on schedule
The applicant should be self-motivation, able to multi-task, detail oriented, and proficient in the application of math and engineering principles.
The key engineering principles for this position are mechanical & machine design, stresses/ strains, and project management. HVAC, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluids are not significant focuses of this position.
Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
- Minimum 6-9 years relevant engineering experience with downhole hydraulics or oilfield equipment preferred
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Ability to organize and document.
- Proficient using 3D cad modeling software, creo or pro/e preferred.
