Network Planning Engineers are important to this success, with the core aim of developing an efficient, coordinated, and smart system for distributing electricity at EHV and 132kV in the East of England. You will be part of the Network Planning team who are at the forefront of exciting challenges, tackling the climate crisis by connecting renewable energy, electric car chargers and low-carbon heating to the electricity distribution network, meeting customers evolving needs by improving our services, supporting our customers in vulnerable circumstances and go above and beyond for the communities we serve.
The post holder represents UK Power Networks in discussions with partners and customers regarding several technical matters related to the distribution network including connection of low carbon generation, technical compliance, and transmission network interface. It is an ideal opportunity to develop Engineering competencies leading to Chartered Engineer Status by joining a dynamic team that influences all parts of the business. Working with Distribution Planning also allows pathways to develop Engineering competencies in the LH and HV network.

Provide a professional service to all customers by performing network analysis and load flow studies for
generation and large demand referrals, determining appropriate points of connections and associated reinforcement requirements to maximise network development synergies.
Undertake site visits and customer appointments.
You will perform high-level network design including equipment rating specification, protection design philosophy and network modelling as part of project approval.
Contribute to Active Network Management implementations, from initial assessment, modelling and network studies to deployment and post-go-live support as per the Distribution System Operator's ambition.
