Controls Project Engineer
Job description:
This position is an intermediate level position in which the Engineer is expected to be able to complete work with increasing independence. An Engineer in Subsea Services Operations Engineering is a critical player in ensuring proper planning and execution of post-manufacturing services to our customers. Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Upfront: Creating, reviewing, updating documentation (routings, task lists, inspection reports, standard work instructions), technical planning, Project Manager interface, and Customer interface.
- Shop Execution: Troubleshooting, path forward dispositions, on-site equipment support, technical planning Project Manager interface, and Customer interface.
- Other: Verifying router accuracy and administration of training program requirements for Controls Services shop new hires.
This role is for the Controls Services team supporting CDM/Topsides equipment (SCMs, PCR, HCR, SPCTU, ULM, etc.), SSD equipment (SFL, HFL, EFL, OFL, etc.), IWOCS/FlyWOCS equipment, and HPU equipment.
- Manages the technical scope of delivering Controls equipment through the workshop.
- No direct reports, but often leads one or more professionals or technicians on a project basis.
- Develops strong relationships with the shop technicians, customer, Customer Service team, and Installation Engineering team.
- Participates as a fully contributing member of a project team. Often leads projects or the solving of problems.
- Analyzes and interprets data independently. Anticipates potential problems and takes preventative action. Participates in the project planning and schedule process.
- Creates work instructions and Engineering documentation to mobilize, refurbish, upgrade/convert, maintain, and preserve equipment.
- Provides workshop and troubleshooting support for assigned projects.
- Creates and prepares Service Orders to provide comprehensive instructions to workshop for projects including ownership of part and tooling allocations, task list operations, and applicable documentation.
- Physical inspection and interaction with equipment in the workshop.
- Supports on-time delivery of entire scope of assigned project.
- Participates in project planning, scheduling, and status reporting.
- Supports Field non-conformance investigations, RCAs, and SN resolution.
- Consults with other departments on equipment designs and questions. Identifies root cause of problems. Develops alternative solutions and communicates associated benefits and risks.
- Prepares reports, including After Action Reviews, for Engineering project assignments.
- Participates in product and task standardization projects.
- Shares opinions, ideas and resources with others to achieve common goals; fosters teamwork and collaboration, builds trust.
- Interprets and applies relevant standards, policies, procedures.
- Independently establishes work tasks in order to successfully meet expectations.
- Demonstrates cooperation and interaction across stakeholders with similar goals, typically internal, often managing familiar and less challenging customers.
