Site Overview
Gurit Composite Engineering, is a part of the Marine and Industrial Business Unit of the Gurit Group, and has offices in the UK, France and New Zealand. We provide composite engineering services to designers and manufacturers and work alongside long-standing customers in various markets such as Marine, Transportation, Architecture and Wind Energy.

Purpose of the Department Function
You will work with our engineering team carrying out engineering of projects for composite structures to the highest quality standard and within timescales and budget targets.

The successful candidate will be based in our offices in Newport, Isle of Wight, UK, Hybrid office/home working options available.

Description of the Role
The role will involve carrying out engineering on a wide range of projects using analytical and design skills, in collaboration with a project team. You will plan and manage engineering projects as well as working with customers and end users to ensure deliverables meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • As project manager, responsible for project deliverables, record of project invoicing prediction and regular reporting of ongoing and completed project efficiency.

  • Planning, project management and client liaison on engineering projects as part of a project team.

  • Conceptual structural design and detailed design and analysis of composite engineering projects.

  • Assist in the development of innovative and efficient engineering solutions and working methods

  • Develop own technical capability and broaden engineering knowledge across different markets

  • Develop project, commercial and personnel management skills

  • Contribute to office technical development

  • Involvement in project quoting under the supervision of sales manager, office manager or practice leaders.

    • Skills and Experience
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Engineering, or related.

  • Knowledge of structural composite materials and building methods

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD 2D & 3D

  • Knowledge of Rhino and/or SolidWorks (or other 3-D CAD Packages) advantageous

  • Knowledge of Altair Hyperworks and experience of Finite Element Analysis advantageous

  • Knowledge of marine composite structures would be an advantage

  • Knowledge of Gurit product range is advantageous.

  • Ability to work as a constructive member of a team and have a strong sense of responsibility.

  • Proven ability to deliver results within timelines and a high level of attention to detail.

  • Fluent in English, both speaking and writing skills - essential.
