Job description
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Mechanical Engineering from four-year accredited college or university, OR extensive job training to equivalent
- 0 to 15 years-related experience and/or training. Strong hands-on capabilities preferred.
- Work with Project Manager to understand design requirements, and to ensure the design meets those requirements (drawing content, drawing time, safety).
- Research and analyze data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
- Create/ensure designs are maximized for efficiency and develop tools/guidelines to ensure efficient processes are used in designs. i.e. ensure design manual is followed and evolves.
- Design products or systems such as instruments and controls which can be utilized to enhance the products.
- Plan and direct drafting personnel in generating detailed fabrication drawings for individual products and systems, and development of methods and procedures for inspection, installation, and assembly.
- Manage multiple drawing projects and ensure Project Managers are provided updates of progress weekly, as a minimum.
- Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
- Handle any design questions that come up during the manufacture of the system and ensure drawings get updated if required.
- Provide instructions for drafting personnel to ensure all project and parts issues are assigned and completed in a timely fashion.
- Required to travel both domestically and internationally at a frequency demanded by the project.
