Project EngineerWe are working with a world leading manufacturer of underwater technology used for tracking, surveys, imaging and navigation. They are looking for a Project Engineer to join their team based in Yateley, Hampshire.
As a Project Engineer you will work as part of a custom project delivery team, responsible for the development, testing and delivery of bespoke systems and instruments which meet bespoke customer requirements in various offshore markets including Energy, Ocean Science, Defence and Offshore renewables. As a project engineer you will work closely with development and production teams to support the engineering aspects associated with delivering custom solutions to meet specific customer requirements and timescales, whilst adherence to both internal and customer quality and test standards.Responsibilities
- Work with the Project Manager to identify requirements and create designs for customer solutions.
- Work with the Project Manager to produce project plans, budgets and reports for management and customers.
- Drive the on time delivery of customer solutions from the design stage through to the finished system including coordinating input from internal company resources across engineering, software development, production, sales, finance etc.
- Develop and undertake rigorous bench, in-water and environmental test procedures to validate the systems hardware, firmware and software elements.
- Identify and rectify faults from component through to system level using specialist internal resources where required.
- Prepare and maintain documentation to customer requirements and company standards including manuals, data sheets, manufacturing record books, interface specifications, acceptance & verification procedures, test and inspection plans.
- Evaluate, monitor and manage risks, issues and changes in compliance with internal Company procedures, escalating as appropriate.
- Represent the Company as a recognised technical authority throughout customer acceptance testing ensuring all issues are managed to the full satisfaction of the Customer.
- Provide the Customer with formal and informal system training including the preparation and update of training material.
- Provide direct Customer support in the installation, commissioning and maintenance of systems throughout their operational life.
ExperienceEssential:
- A degree-level qualification in an engineering or science discipline
- Knowledge and use of standard lab testing equipment including Oscilloscopes and DVMs.
- Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
- Proven background in engineering design or project/product launch or implementation.
- Proven history of preparing high quality written documentation
Desirable:
- Awareness of software or embedded software development principles.
- Awareness of electronics circuit principles and operation
- Commercial awareness, understanding of 'Business Case', profit etc.
- Awareness of basic mechanical design principles
- Background in delivering against challenging timescales
